Version 14 Feature Vote
Added 2025-05-22 15:43:28 +0000 UTC
Hello wonderful Patreon supporter community!
Now that we have accomplished the stable release of Foundry Virtual Tabletop version 13 our team is excited to turn our attention towards planning for Version 14. The next two months will involve an overlapping period of perfecting and refining V13 while we simultaneously plan out the major features that will form the backbone of V14. As always, your voice as our most supportive users and community members will inform that plan and guide us in what we prioritize for our next major iteration. That process begins now with our Patreon Prioritization Poll for Version 14!
As with each major version of Foundry Virtual Tabletop it is up to YOU, our fantastic Patreon Community, to vote on one of the major features we will prioritize in this upcoming version.
The V14 Patreon Prioritization Poll began on Thursday, May 22 and will remain open for two weeks until 11:59pm eastern time on Thursday, June 5.
Poll Options
Please read the following article for an overview of some features our team is already committed to implementing in Version 14 and for a description of each feature offered in this poll.
https://foundryvtt.com/article/v14-patreon-vote/
Choices are listed alphabetically below. Details about what each would entail are provided in the article linked above. Please vote for any (all) features which you would be excited to see added to Foundry Virtual Tabletop Version 14.
We encourage all of you to join the discussion about this vote and share your thoughts in the comment section of this poll or in the #v14-feature-vote channel of our official Discord server (https://discord.gg/foundryvtt).
Poll Rules
You should vote for as many features as you would personally enjoy having in Foundry VTT. This is not as ideal as ranked choice voting (which Patreon does not offer), but this gives a better opportunity for our supporters to indicate which options they are most excited by and we feel this produces a more fair outcome than a single-choice voting framework.
Our team can't wait to see what you think about these options and which option is the winner that joins our V14 plans.
The V14 Patreon Prioritization Poll began on Thursday, May 22 and will remain open for two weeks until 11:59pm eastern time on Thursday, June 5.

Improved drawing tools, especially a freehand drawing eraser would be great for improvisation. With the current freehand tool, you have to delete the entire line and redraw it, wich takes a lot of time during session.

2025-06-19 16:37:03 +0000 UTCIs there a roadmap where 3D dice becomes a core feature versus a module?

2025-06-02 23:43:06 +0000 UTCPersistant user-determined lighting choices would be nice. So that if I create a scene with no lighting controls turned on, the next thing I create will have no lighting controls and I won't have to manually go back in and turn them off every single time.

2025-05-29 13:16:26 +0000 UTCI have to admit, I haven't looked closely at v13 yet because our current campaign is wrapping up, and I'll only update for the next one. I've engaged even less with v14 so far – my apologies. However, based on my current understanding, I think an expansion of the "dynamic tokens" feature would be great: - More templates - The option to add custom tokens without needing scripting knowledge - Visual effects like "you take damage and the dynamic area starts blinking red (or another configured color)" - And so on.

2025-05-28 05:58:40 +0000 UTCManual fog of war is the very basic feature that I wish I didn't need a module for. I don't always want or have time to build walls, especially for complex or open natural areas. Improved search and popout application windows are great quality of life features for GMs, but I think the basics need to be accounted for first... I wish you would also focus on official mobile / tablet support, it's been wanted by so many for very long

2025-05-25 21:10:20 +0000 UTCAtropos answered your question during the V13 unboxing livestream ; don't know if you saw. What i got from it the answer is no, at least not until pixi 9 10 comes out but i'm not a dev so i'm not sure i understood correctly.

2025-05-24 14:27:33 +0000 UTCPlease please please don't continue to relegate Manual Fog of War to a 3rd party module that can take months to work with each new version of Foundry. This seems like such a simple and integral tool that I don't understand why it still isn't a core functionality of this application.

2025-05-24 03:34:05 +0000 UTCPopOut is an incredibly useful tool *for my players*, and the fact that it hasn't been updated for my favorite game ruleset and Foundry V13 is why I came here to vote for it on this list. My players lean heavily on this when using their browsers so they can keep their character sheets open in one window and the map open in another. I never understood why this wasn't implemented as a core Foundry VTT feature to begin with.

2025-05-23 17:40:49 +0000 UTCAre there any plans to retry the pixi 8 upgrade that was first tried during the early version 13 development cycle?

2025-05-23 07:43:31 +0000 UTCI also joined just for this. This is SO helpful. I have 5 monitors when we play and record and only 1 I can really use for Foundry which is a major bummer. P.S. Although I've tried using the Ripper's Levels module it always seems to get hung up when we play and the weird way you have to stack the images using the interface is clunky (though still appreciated). And official V14 update with this would also probably make it feasible that things like Dungeon Alchemist imports may be able to share the multi-level map data with Foundry better.

2025-05-23 06:40:10 +0000 UTCThere's no one mod that does everything they mention but at least for 5e between DF Template enhancement or midi for auto targeting, Gambit's template previewer for previews, automated animations/TMFX for pretty stuff, and active auras/aura-effects/mass edit for attaching auras/templates to stuff I think it's mostly covered. Not sure what they mean with adding region behaviors to templates. If they mean teleporting non-owned tokens with spells that's covered in AA. As I go through the full list I can see how if they really were to cover all this with core it would be pretty cool. Still hoping for SFX regions but this would be nice too.

2025-05-23 03:32:49 +0000 UTCJoined finally so I can vote for the Popout feature. As an avid player of every system under the sun except for 5e, I have been desperate for a working feature to free up display space to be able to visualize the board without having to zoom out 200%. I know there is the ability to hide/show the sheet with the c button (at least for PF2e, my most played) but in order to plan for future turns, its imperative to be able to reference your sheet in ever changing combat.

2025-05-23 03:05:57 +0000 UTCAdvanced Measured Templates is the best choice by far, and the only one that's not easily solved with modules. Insane that this isn't a clear-cut choice.

2025-05-22 23:27:20 +0000 UTCA lot of these features are already excellent modules, I'd be most exited to see more consolidation and improvement of existing features - such as the token layer and placement system, drawing tools, and the like. Great work as always with v13 Foundry!

2025-05-22 20:32:01 +0000 UTCI really would like Foundry's Core to add native support for translations, though Babele is doing the job, it won't be there fore ever. May be next year ?

2025-05-22 19:45:50 +0000 UTCPop-Out module only works for 5e and there are a ton of other systems that are played other than just DnD 5e which could benefit from it. "Getting over yourself" is not an option when any of the games I care about can't even use the module. Having it built in as a system agnostic feature is a much nicer solution as this issue is not "solved" like you claim. The Pop-Out module itself even points out it's incredibly unstable. From the module page: "This module is only tested against the base Foundry application using the DnD5e system. While most other systems and modules should work; Just because there is a PopOut! button on a window, does not guarantee that it will work. Due to the necessarily brittle nature of how this module is implemented, other modules may lack functionality or break completely when popped out." I would much rather be able to play systems other than DnD 5e and use this, as well as not worry about other modules I use breaking because of Pop-Out (as it says itself can happen!)

2025-05-22 18:22:44 +0000 UTCHello, really exited for v14 ty for your hard work ! I have a little feedback on the planned features don't know where to put my message. I find the Scene Region Legend a little cluncky to use i would love if it were possible to have the window open with a right click on the icon layer and stay open without being on the specfic layer. And only for regions (maybe others) i wish i could get a button on the legend to activate/desactivate a region.

2025-05-22 17:45:13 +0000 UTCSuggestion for V15: build the next one of these polls with community feedback. That is, before we vote on what feature we want, have a poll where people can add suggestions and vote. Then take the top 8 voted suggestions and use them for a new poll for V15's community-chosen feature. These feature votes you do are nice, but it's not possible to have much input the way things are now.

2025-05-22 17:20:32 +0000 UTCSpecial Effects regions FTW! Particularly after seeing them implementing non-light based animations in Ember and seeing how impressive the results can be we really need this in core. The lack of an easy way to have small regions of animated water/fog/small critters/etc without adding a light is a serious problem for any indoor/underground scenes and there is no mod that fixes this problem.

2025-05-22 17:18:07 +0000 UTCI 100% see the need for Pop-Out. I use that plugin all the time. I 100% do not want them spending precious developer resources addressing a solved problem. I get that there are no-plugin purists out there. I get that. But get over yourself. Install it. :-) I would much rather see things that are FUNDAMENTAL gaps, such as document tagging and searchability, addressed. Tagger and other tagging solutions don't work for Documents the last I checked. Granted, it's been a while since I've updated that or Monk's. Document searchability is a MASSIVE problem that I haven't seen solved well by plugins (all that I have tried suck), whereas Pop-Out is elegantly solved by a plugin. In my sessions I have tons of windows popped out, and it works fine. Just my 2 cp.; I was shocked to see it trending as #1. I assumed others who thought this was an issue, were already addressing it with the plugin.

2025-05-22 16:54:55 +0000 UTCI have been installing "Pop-Out!" module since I started with Foundry in 2020 and I used it less than 20 times myself. I really do not understand the hype behind this feature comparing it to other options

2025-05-22 16:04:41 +0000 UTCAdvanced Measured Templates, Document Tags and Improved Search and Placeable Items are my favorites. Drawing Tools and Manuag FoW are close second. Pop-Out and Special Effect Regions are the ones I'm not convinced about and are my LEAST favourite ones

2025-05-22 16:02:59 +0000 UTCAgreed, its a big selling point of other VTTs and the 3rd party mods aren't terribly well integrated. If you aren't playing a fantasy game, it can be very hard to find maps and tools to make appropriate maps, and so being able to quick sketch scenes is invaluable.
Ian Murphy
2025-05-22 15:59:16 +0000 UTCDevastating that Drawing Tools aren't a more popular option here. Definitely Foundry's weakest feature and the most important for quickly getting new GMs into low prep games.
