How Much Sound?
Added 2020-11-03 03:10:20 +0000 UTCHello, special perverts! Thank you for sticking with me through a slow October. I've been thinking about general polish stuff for Ruin Me, and one thing I want feedback on is sound.
Currently, the opening to the game has thunder and rain ambience at appropriate times, but there's nothing else for the rest of the game. I usually mute porn games, but on the other hand, audio can really help with making a game feel more vivid.
I'm trying to decide if I should remove the opening sounds and avoid startling or annoying players and setting false expectations, or whether I should flesh out the rest of the game with audio. What do you think about audio in Ruin Me?
If I included more sound, it would probably be occasional key noises, coupled with ambiences for various scenes. I don't think actual music would match the game; I'm envisioning something like the "ambience" and "ambience + minimal music" sounds on https://tabletopaudio.com/ (but making my own). They'd be relatively short loops with care taken to avoid sounding too repetitive.
Voice acting isn't on the table right now. I just don't have the budget to fairly pay actors, even for simple barks.
