And we're starting off 2028 with a bang! Hope you enjoy the library visit, keen eyes will notice page 1 is the same angle as when we first visit the library and page 5 is an homage to Scarlett, an original short story I'd written back in May 2020. January 2028 | Ayyla Page 1

I was looking back through early pages of my journal and found it strange I never did another at the town library. I’m here fairly often, getting an English degree meant I did a ton of close reading and turned that into a hobby post-college. The reading part, not the analysis. It’s honestly nice being able to pick up deeper meanings of plots and view an author’s works as a whole, but there’s something to be said about just enjoying a book that’s not striving to be a masterpiece. The same goes for music and movies, too.

So here we are. Hello everyone, this big girl is greeting you all in the first month of 2028, starting another year off with a bang. We’ve got a bit of a shake-up at Rose Quartz, my mother retired for a second time after we confirmed Betty Whitmore would fill her spot. She’ll be handling advertisement contracts and general business dealings, while Darlene is on outreach and myself on content creation. There’s crossover for sure though and we’ll see if Betty likes what we’re about.

As our newest member she’ll be helping us in an area she’s an expert in. We’ll need a new office, at least something for the two of them to have the option of using to avoid distractions at home. It would be nice if I could fit but…yeah. Claryssa was our informant, giving us an overall positive review of her sister’s credentials… and a warning about her flirty behavior. I’ve got no issue with that unless it brings harm to people.

But on to a different topic, I should share that the growth spurt I was going through has settled. Waking up a bit larger each day is a given but there are times when it’s almost noticeable. Two thirds of an inch more from last month is typical, putting me at 11’1.6”. I’m at the library to find a book on sewing, Beats and I have saved a little bit of money with adjustments and fixes but we both acknowledge the need to take out a book to study if we’re going to make passable clothes. I want to do my part, so I’ll learn with her.

This about wraps up this month’s journal. College classes are between semesters currently, so there’s just a few regulars here. It’s always great settling down to enjoy a mystery, though I suppose custom printing of me-sized books is another thing I’ll need in the future. My fingers are nimble enough for now though, just imagine you’ve got a pocket sized manual or novel. Stay warm this winter, cya!
