A message from Puella for 2022 and going forward
Added 2022-01-11 07:00:02 +0000 UTCHi folks,
First, I want to show my sincere gratitude to you for your continuous support. It really boosts me up and I feel l'm not alone in trying to keep Miura's legacy alive.
When Miura was with us, I translated Berserk-related texts as a kind of side job. However, these days I've been thinking more and more that it should be my main activity. The reason is simple: translating faithfully and qualitatively takes time.
Currently, I've been publishing my translations twice a month. I try to provide decent chunks each time, but it's simply too slow a pace to cover the enormous amount of material that has been accumulated over the years, from the recent "Messages to Miura" to his many interviews (including the most recent one in the exhibition's artbook) and other texts, and eventually to all the volumes themselves.
Of course, I'm also expecting Mori Kouji to publish his next manga "MK" down the line, which I want to translate as well. I estimate that going through all this material will take me more than 10 years. Unfortunately, I'm not 25.
As some of you may know, translating is my day job. My dream would be to be able to only work on Berserk from now on and nothing else. If so I'd probably be able to publish twice a week. But I know it's unlikely. However, I do think that with your support, and that of more likeminded Berserk fans, I could manage a post per week.
That's a new goal I've added to this page. If we reach $400 a month, I'll reduce my workload from my main job so that I can spend half of my time on Berserk. Of course, if I'm completely honest, that won't compensate for the actual loss of income, but I don't really care. Berserk translations take me a lot more time than my usual paid work, but I also enjoy them so much more.
And I pride myself knowing it helps people get a better understanding of Berserk and Miura. It really feels like a lifetime duty to me now. Most of all, I'm stricken anew each time at how interesting Miura himself was. The more we know about him, the clearer it is that he was an exceptional artist, born to be a mangaka.
Thank you for coming with me on this journey. I hope the coming years will prove that the fire of true Berserk fandom will never fade out. I will try my best to ensure it burns forever.

2022-01-11 15:27:06 +0000 UTCThank you for the suggestion! Right now, it's already possible to edit your pledge to give more than is strictly required by the tier you've chosen. But we'll think about adding dedicated tiers as well. If you have specific suggestions, don't hesitate to reach out via the messaging tool!

2022-01-11 11:20:28 +0000 UTCThank you for all of your hard work Puella! It's great knowing how much this project means to you and we couldn't be more grateful! Maybe it would be possible to add higher tiers meant purely for support to the patreon? I'm sure there would be some including myself that would be more than happy to toss over a bit more than we currently do.
