Since you're an anime only right now, what the anime didn't show you is glimpse of the event during the Laplace war and the what the spear really is. Ruijerd call it the Superd soul but it more than that. Superd is born with a three prone tail and as they get older, the tail grow longer and harder until it fall off which they than use as their spear. When Laplace gave them new spear, many reject it but it was Ruijerd who convince them to use it which lead to the tragic event. Ruijerd son (one of the few who refuses the new spear) fought him to the death to snap him out of the cursed spear control. That spear Ruijerd have right now is his son tail.
