A STORY I PROBABLY SHOULDN'T TELL

I couldn't travel the world, so by the age of 15 I started to travel my head and consciousness. As someone who's done mushrooms many many times as well as quite a few analog research chemicals (see Dr. Alex Shulgin's book Pihkal) this had me giggling like a child jealous of the experience. Psilocybin is much more of a self retrospective experience, a roller coaster you have no control of. LSD is more so giving your brain a microscope and you choose what to look at. I have never been through a situation of consumption of any strong drug. But I am convinced that addictions are psychological, I know this because I have been able to drink up to 10 cups of ☕ caffeine in one day. Although I have seen in your YouTube videos how you control those consumer situations, Mike has been very versatile in all of this.

Thanks Travis. I appreciate this message, and also your words of wisdom. I some as these substances in the same way I see some of my wilder adventures, done with great caution and with respect. I've been able to grow a lot by trying some of these plant medicines, and advocate their use, BUT damn man, you have to be careful and take due diligence, especially if you haven't looked the caged demons you have inside in the eye. Appreciate you man!

We should have done that mental math a bit better and factored in a "what if they kick in sooner" calculation... But hindsight is 20/20 haha

Did you end up seeing hallucinations?

Crazy. I think my travel experiences have lead me to put trust in situations I don't fully understand. For example, trusting a guy to lead you through the jungles of congo on a motor bike isn't too far off a Mushroom trip you know?

The one time I took mushrooms I was shark fishing! I ended up catching a shark while at the peak of my trip and it was one of the craziest life experiences I’ve ever had to date.

I've done mushrooms twice and it was enough to prove to me that I can probably never do strong hallucinogens. I nearly had a panic attack trying to maintain control of my thoughts because I am a bit of a control freak and couldn't allow myself to just submit to the effects. Similarly, I had to navigate myself and my car home but I had a relatively small dose compared to what you and your friend went through and it was only a 15-minute drive.

I've only had mushrooms once but definitely loved the trip.

Wow, adventure certainly finds you. I'm glad you and no one else got hurt. Guardian angel or universe, you made it and I think you are wiser for the experience. I can't imagine doing anything differently not knowing about what would happen. Thank you for sharing.

To me, up to this point you have been an amazing public figure that has been fortunate enough to live through experiences others are too afraid or are not fortunate enough to go through themselves. Thank you for that. This does sound like something you had to get out of your system and that you learned a very valuable lesson from, and was a 1 time thing, and I'm very glad that you ended the story saying it was one of the stupidest things you have ever done...but I cant help but to notice your "dabbling" into different forms of mild drug use. You are one of the most genuine, introspective, REAL people that I have had the pleasure of watching, please do not let a situation happen that could end all of the positive your able to put into the world. I wouldn't have said anything about it if I hadn't just listened to Vitaly Zdorovetskiy on Roman Atwoods podcast talk about his bad trip on shrooms leading to a physical assault on a random woman. I am not making a comparison between you and him as I know you are a FAR more respectable guy...just don't want to see you end up in a similar situation.
