Hadzabe Tribe Part I [Director's Cut]

A Director's Cut is when we watch a video together, and I tell you a little bit more of the backstory of the scenes as we watch. Here's one for the "new hit single" on my channel. Enjoy!

Hadzabe Tribe Part I [Director's Cut]

Comments

I love what you said at the beginning, man. It's true--your videos are much more than the average travel vlog. I've said for years that your work is every bit as high-quality as the stuff you see on NatGeo and the Discovery Channel. Yours is more engaging, as you still maintain that connection with your audience and the people you're documenting. So fascinating to hear about the behind-the-scenes of your Hadzabe tribe experience, especially how they have access to some modern amenities. And I totally agree with what you said about the barrier between typical tourists and the people they meet...it does sort of feel like watching an animal in a zoo or something. Viewing someone or something from a far with a barrier that prevents either party from getting too close to the other. I think that's why true immersive travel appeals to me so much. I much prefer the idea of "becoming one with" rather than just observing. I strongly disagree with the neo-Colonialist accusations regarding your content, but they're not entirely surprising. You film how people live all over the world, from Mexico to Siberia to Poland to Tanzania. You document how they live and immerse yourself in it to the best of your ability. You're an educator. You relay first-hand information back to us and allow us to see often-hidden corners of the world for what they are, with no agenda other than showing us what you saw. And as far as modernizing the Hadzabe, I think you hit the nail on the head when you said it should be about what they want, not what outsiders want for them. If they want something and you have the time, money, and resources to bring those things to them, I think that's always a good thing. You're a good man, Mike. Your heart is in the right place and I truly believe you're making the world a better place by doing what you do and being the man you are. Looking forward to seeing what you do for the Hadzabe in the future, and of course, the director's cut of the snake video and everything else that's coming up! πŸ‰πŸ”₯
