Hadzabe Baboon Hunting Part II (Uncensored)
Added 2021-06-13 05:28:20 +0000 UTCHere it is. All the stuff I cut out of the YouTube version of hunting baboon with the Hadzabe Tribe in Tanzania. It's a rough one. Let me know what you think.

Maybe bring them some PLASTIC. Not excessively but a few gallons of just water for their storage.
2023-06-14 06:30:17 +0000 UTCStrangely enough I didn't see any music when I was with the Hadza. I wonder if they have intrsuments?
2023-05-27 16:15:05 +0000 UTCmaybe if we teach them some musical instruments so they spend their time smoking and making music that way we help them express themselves better about music and we understand them better
2023-05-27 05:39:24 +0000 UTCValid points Ry. It's interesting to think about what the future will be for these people, because it's all changing fast. With or without intervention, the Hadza won't be able to continue their lifestyle. One interesting example is the Massai, who have had many children go to school, become lawyers and government officials, and then are able to understand the system and fight to preserve their land and culture. Without people fighting who understand the laws and rights of their people, they get pushed out by people who do. It has to be Hadza who fight for Hadza rights, and that's where schooling comes in.
2023-05-04 18:06:52 +0000 UTCPeople generally proceed in trying to help via their own perceptions. For instance, the foundation that you mention that provides schooling. This sounds great. Now step back and ruminate upon what kind of schooling: Are the children being taught how to track and butcher a baboon? How to make a bow? How to disinfect using urine? Is the effort to perpetuate the Hadzabe culture or to "improve" it? Does the school focus on the Hadzabe language or French and English? Most likely, in the end, it accelerates the demise of the unique Hadzabe. "Helping" can prove an onerous task. From your narrative, it sounds that the Hadzabe need their land purged of domesticated animals and domesticated humans, and security around the perimeter thereafter.
2023-05-03 18:46:55 +0000 UTCYes it would have been sick to see. It would also be so cool if you could do this again and make another video. But never the less, these videos itself are amazing so thank you for your content.
2023-04-25 21:00:27 +0000 UTCI know right.
2023-04-25 17:34:33 +0000 UTCTrust me if I had it I would have shown it. He was sweeping along the side, and the baboons went straight. Would have been sick though right?
2023-04-25 17:34:23 +0000 UTCI loved this video and I hope one day I can go to have an experience like you did. Also am I the only one who noticed that the chief, Socolo, had a GoPro on when they killed the second baboon? I just wondered if you had any of the hunting footage from that GoPro during the kill of the second baboon. If you do have it, I would greatly appreciate if you could post it Mike or just get back to me to tell me if you have the footage.
2023-04-23 18:35:48 +0000 UTCHey Charlise, I mean hypothetically I could edit together all the footage with no voice over, but raw footage is really messy and boring. For these tips, the goal is to make youtube videos, so most of the footage has talking. I've got to build a brand after all.
2023-04-18 16:23:01 +0000 UTCplease
2023-04-16 22:14:15 +0000 UTCjust raw footage, no translation, no voice over nothing.
2023-04-16 22:14:11 +0000 UTCbeing there isnt a fortune we all have so please share
2023-04-16 22:13:45 +0000 UTCid pay hundreds for it
2023-04-16 22:13:28 +0000 UTCplease
2023-04-16 22:13:20 +0000 UTCi dont mean any harm, but i would love to just see videos of them and less of you talking. i want to feel like im there. not your friend listening near by
2023-04-16 22:13:08 +0000 UTCWe need alot longer footage hours worth
2021-08-10 01:28:36 +0000 UTCThere is this thing called 'warka tower'. I don't know whether this is more towards aesthetics than functionality to compared to building a water well. But I guess it's worth to check it out?
2021-07-29 11:23:04 +0000 UTCIt is so fascinating to see people live a whole different life. It is amazing. I appreciate this kind of quality content. I needed to see the uncut version so bad because I know I would be missing out. Your work is inspiring.
2021-07-18 20:22:06 +0000 UTCThis could be an interesting idea. I have a call with the NGO soon. I'll update everyone!
2021-06-20 18:54:48 +0000 UTCFrom what I experienced, all meat was cooked. The single exception being the liver from the first video, which is eaten raw in many places on earth.
2021-06-20 18:54:21 +0000 UTCIt's a hard question to answer. The grazing isn't very good on their land. Maybe someday they will have to resort to it as well. I hope there is a way we can preserve their way of life.
2021-06-20 18:53:43 +0000 UTCThank you John. Appreciate the support!
2021-06-20 18:52:40 +0000 UTCHeyyy... or maybe a well or something. This is a good one.
2021-06-20 18:52:17 +0000 UTCThese are good ideas. I have a call with an NGO next week to talk specifics. From my understanding now, the Datooga always lived here alongside the Hadzabe. But they weren't typically pastoralists. Now, there are many more of them, and cattle too. Too many people, in too little of a space. A narrative we hear a lot about.
2021-06-20 18:52:03 +0000 UTCAnother idea for helping if it didn't already cross your mind: if they cherish those plastic bottles, bring along some steelflasks. Those are robust, they can boil water and they can be repaired to a certain extent.
2021-06-20 18:23:08 +0000 UTCdo these tribes eat more cooked or raw meat and why?
2021-06-19 17:00:21 +0000 UTChere's an idea on how to help the hunter-gatherers: simply help them become pastoralists: grass-fed and grass-finished meat is very healthy, as well as the grass-fed dairy and blood they could get from the cows. They don't need to hunt. Teach them "regenerative grazing", it's good for both them and the environment: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLe3eYCAQTI5-R7GnzyReypUOsuw3V6agC
2021-06-19 16:57:13 +0000 UTCThis is some next level stuff! Even your commentary was delivered in a different style, which really illustrates the impact this particular visit has made. I trust your heart is in the right place as to how to help the Hadzabe. You will find a way. Thank you for sharing, as always!
2021-06-18 03:42:09 +0000 UTCWater filters! They could benefit from those lifestraws
2021-06-18 03:33:07 +0000 UTCWell said !
2021-06-17 12:30:33 +0000 UTCIt seems the worst possible idea would be to give the Hadzabe modern items, which make them reliant over time and dilutes their bush skills. Guns in particular is a terrible idea. Perhaps a better way to help is to protect their land somehow? You said that farmers are encroaching and scaring off the game animals. So then the Hadzabe probably need the land to be more strongly protected, and the animal populations preserved. You could support local Biodiversity or nature reserve initiatives perhaps?
2021-06-15 11:25:38 +0000 UTCFound your channel a few days ago, and I have to say your content is on another level. You are putting NAT GEO and VICE to shame. TV is filled with nothing but political virtue signaling to a point you can’t watch it without feeling attacked from every direction. This is a breath of fresh air, as I too love to travel the far corners of the world that is off the beaten path. I have not had the experience of rural tribes yet, but I always find cool locals to show me around and allow me to live and experience like a local. Mostly in Europe and South East Asia so far. After seeing more and more about Africa I’ll have to make my way there eventually. My mom is not very culturally experienced and gets scared just when I disappear to Thailand, Bali etc for a few months at a time. She’s better now that she’s seen me survive 3-4 months there and make it home each time. But Africa? The poor woman would probably stroke out! The first time I was going to Vietnam, Cambodia and just exploring south east Asia I knew she would freak so I said I was going to Europe, and I did! But that was just going to be a week as I broke up my flights on my way there. I do not like crossing the pacific so I go to Europe first, then creep into far Eastern Europe & Russia to eventually catch my last ling flight to Bangkok. Nothing worse than 15.5 hours in coach across the pacific. If I can’t get a good deal on first class my ass is going to catch 4-5 flights to get there instead of two brutal ones. Keep inspiring us, you are amazing! Youtube has to be censoring you or shadow banning you, which I wouldn’t understand. You don’t do anything they would typically censor. I say this because you should have millions and millions of subs. Keep the content like this and you will have companies pouring millions into your travel and have you in first class cabins to make them content. Cheers
2021-06-14 15:13:14 +0000 UTCThanks so much Brandon. I've had my thinking cap on, and I'll need to speak with someone who knows the "darkside" of this part of the world. I just focused on the fun, but there are a lot of troubles in the community that I just caught a whiff of... for example, the weed smoking was a fun segment in the first video, but has really become an underlying problem. I need to learn more about all of this first though. I'll report back!
2021-06-14 12:59:47 +0000 UTCHaha thank you! This one took a long time, but I had to make it perfect. It's the conclusion to a chapter!
2021-06-14 12:57:37 +0000 UTCFor a lot of the ways to help, the problem becomes "What happens after I leave?" I could bring them all sorts of cool things, but then where will the batteries, bullets, power, all come from in a month? Tanzania has strict gun laws too. Tribes with guns could mean trouble for the government. It's a tough one, yeah?
2021-06-14 12:56:09 +0000 UTCPerhaps making a well over there could work... Let me look into it.
2021-06-14 12:52:59 +0000 UTCDo you think bringing them some type of rifle or muzzle loader would be a good idea. It would help them continue there hunts and almost guarantee them meat every hunt.
2021-06-14 00:24:08 +0000 UTCI think the best help you could give them would be clean water and some vitamins and protein if they don't get enough meat.
2021-06-13 21:45:22 +0000 UTCSuch a fascinating video, my man. Definitely the most raw footage I've ever seen from you. Even listening to you describe what the hunt and its aftermath were like was extremely graphic. It's so interesting...it's shocking to me and you, but to them, a day like that is a very good day. I'm glad you brought up the problems with eating something that's too similar to yourself, as I'd heard about that many years ago. And as far as the conundrum of how to help the Hadzabe, I don't know that there really is a "right" answer. I wouldn't even know where to begin. But it's awesome that your heart is in the right place and that you want to help them. Good luck with the call, and I can't wait to hear how it all turns out. 🐉🔥
