Advice needed - Hanging by Hooks is coming August 24... [BTS 45]

Okay, Dragons! So straight up, let me tell you that before you click the video above, MAJOR GRAPHIC WARNING! You will literally see a woman being suspended in the air by her skin. (Maybe don't watch on your lunch break.) The full video is going live on the YouTube channel on August 24th, 2019.

If this is sounding too much for you, no worries. You're no less of a dragon! You don't need to watch this or the full video and I got more cool stuff coming for you in a couple of days. This was probably the craziest thing I have done or may ever do, so I totally understand if it's best for you to not watch.

That being said, I need your advice. This is an exclusive short with some footage that may go into the full video. It is probably the most graphic portion of the full video because for my suspension (which you may have already seen clips of here on Patreon) there was less "pull" and less blood. Let me know if I should take out or modify some clips for the greater YouTube audience. I don't want to be overly graphic at the expense of still communicating the story. So help me find that balance. Please leave a comment with timestamps to specific scenes (eg. 1:33-1:39) to help me create this video.

Many of you were with me on Patreon when I filmed this video and will remember that it was filmed exactly one year ago. August 24 is my birthday, and I did this experience for my birthday in 2018. A lot of other adventures and videos have happened since and been posted before this but I wanted to put together a video that I hope will be special, tasteful, and meaningful.

Heyy that's all I wanted in that video. To show something that even I judged, in pure light.

watched the video the other day,not something I would personallydo but saw a great deal of beauty in the practice of hanging yourself.

Thanks man!

I actually liked the final with all the narrative included. Nice job Sir!

This was the worst part, so you've already made it through!

Cautions are like warnings to the curious. After reading it, I still watched the clip from beginning to end. I couldn't take my eyes off nor could I give much of an opinion. I am sorry, Mike., but my heart is pounding too hard; still is, that much I know. I now question myself, will this unpleasant emotion I am feeling go away or will it stay for a while in my mind like a broken record? This angst I am so aware of right now is quite different from fear. Or am I refusing what I truly feel because I want not to accept fear itself? This is not even the full video yet, but I am outrageously frightful and anxiously eager to view the full recording. Why is that? I have no answer. So, if a scaredy-cat like me was able to observe this from 00:44 (start of heart-pounding background music) to 3:21 (pale and lifeless hand effect), then I would say keep it as is and confect the rest of the video up. Eight more days to go. My chest is tight. 🐉

Thanks as always for your encouragement and support, Roland. Glad you could finally watch it!

Hey Brandon, thanks for taking time out of your weekend for this careful evaluation. I'll be certainly going back to reference it as I finish this video.

I watched the video with an open mind AND eyes open! Why am I not that shocked?? I even think it’s beautiful! Is it because I’ve matured as a dragon and learned a lot from your talks about chasing ones fear? Was it because I don’t know the girl? Unlike when it was you, the suspension was new to us and we care for your safety? Was I desensitized because Ive seen bits and pieces of your suspension and it’s almost a year? We know your wounds have healed and your experience was freeing and powerful. So what are your concerns, Mike? 1. That your subscribers won’t understand why you did it? 2. That people (fans) won’t accept you? Find you weird? 3. You’ll be demonetized by YouTube? 4. Subscribers leaving the channel? If the sample footage “is probably the most graphic portion of the full video” then you have nothing to worry about. (Yes, even the shivering part. Who doesn’t like drama). The blood is not that much. Exceptional music as usual. Trust your dragons to understand and have the full experience (even without the actual piercing of hooks) 😀through your expert presentation. Soaring together as one! 🐉

So I'm not sure what this says about me, but I didn't find this nearly as hard to watch as I thought it would be. I actually found a lot of it oddly beautiful. I found most of the editing to be quite tasteful. 1:35-1:39 and 1:56-1:59 are definitely the most graphic moments. I can see a lot of people who aren't used to your content tuning out at those points, but I guess that's to be expected with a video like this. In particular, the scream in the music from 1:33-1:37 made me catch my breath but other than that, I think the music is perfect. The woman's smile at 2:25 is one of my favorite moments - it's the moment where I think the viewer first gets the sense that she's not only OK, but is actually enjoying the experience. It lessens the tension, which I think is needed after a couple of pulse-pounding minutes. The shakiness from 3:01-3:05 almost gives me "exorcism"-like vibes, which feels a little antithetical to the otherwise serene feeling that's conveyed at the end of the video. If it's an exaggerated effect, I would at least consider removing it. All in all, the video might be a bit too much for casual viewers, but I think your Dragons will be able to handle it. I got so caught up in the storytelling that I barely noticed the blood (1:36, 1:56) on my first viewing - and that's coming from someone who gets squeamish around blood. If I know anything about you, I know there will be a fantastic explanation of body suspension in the video, so I'm not worried that the video will come off as just shock value. You always do a really wonderful job of explaining the things you observe and participate in. Even so, I'm almost certain the video will get demonetized immediately, but I'm sure sharing your experience with the world will be worth it. Anyway, this was long and rambling, but I hope you found some value in my feedback, man. Now that I've seen this, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your own body suspension experience! 🐉

I so appreciate your taking the time to give this detailed comment. I will be making changes to the final draft for sure to make sure it's palatable by more people.

Great points on everything! I will be taking these into consideration for the final version. And oh, I'm exclusively the editor for this one! ;)

Well, this one's complicated! 1) This is fantastic! 2) Your new editor is amazing! I would pay to spend a day with them and watch them edit, for real! 3) The following feedback is specifically pertaining to posting on YouTube. I followed what story the edit was conveying, and it works, it really does, but for a YouTube audience it might be a tad much. • The track that starts @ 0:44 gives a very pagan ritualistic feel to it. I feel it will give the viewer a skewed perception of the content and may not be fair to the subjects. I just believe it’s a little too aggressive. • I get why the blood is included, but I don’t think it’s necessary to the story and may not be perceived well to a non-subscriber. Can the editor fade it a bit or give it a slight blur, not a noticeable blur, just to tone down the sharpness of the blood. @1:36 & 1:56 The blood that’s not on skin I think is fine honestly. • At the beginning of the lift @1:42 and toward the end of the lowering @ 3:01 it looks like there was some faux camera movements added in the edit that exaggerate a sense of pain. Again, it works, but for YouTube I would recommend restabilizing those frames so as not to increase shock value (that is the best way I can think to phrase it). • I am not sure how you’d do it, but can you maybe tone down Mike’s sexiness? I am getting all flustered over here! 😊 LOL It’s just a super hard balance you are trying to make. I wish I had more feedback for you

I forgot to mention about the "shivering" part as well. I did wonder about whether she was in a bit of trouble or shock.

I'm surprised hooks on 3 parts of the skin can keep a person suspended and support the entire weight of the person. Especially if the person moves or exerts extra downwards forces (as you did in yours). About the video, I liked it. I would note that, if I remember correctly, in the video prior to you actually doing it on here you got some not-so-interested comments suggesting it was simply an act of trying to be fearless without reason. In the video after your experience with it, you described it as freeing, and you were flying around on that hook (I think, can't remember exact description). That has powerful symbology, and is far deeper than just blood or needles. The music is also very powerful, good touch. I think this clip portrays a much more relaxed feel than even yours. You captured emotions on her face perfectly too (2:25). It distracts from any gore in my opinion, and the blood is not that much anyway. For that reason, I'd keep it in personally. I wouldn't change anything of the substance. You may wish to rethink the animation and effects at the end. 3:00-3:07. It feels like she's shivering, having some sort of attack or something, right as she's lowered from the hook, it doesn't make it seem pleasant. Not sure if that's editing or actual (if actual, perhaps cut it out). Rest of it is great. I'd leave it in. Looks like a great experience you had!

First, the more disclaimer there is, the more curious people will be and will watch the video. But yes, they have been warned. 😉 1:35-1:39 and 1:56-1:59 > These are the two scenes that had me holding my breath! I think these were the most intense scenes. Having said that, the editing was perfectly timed with the music, especially when she gasped. 1:35-1:39 was a bit more difficult to watch because I saw her grimace in pain plus there was a bit of blood. If people won't watch after that scene then they might miss the look of serenity (ecstacy, even) on her face later on in the video. Anybody who'd quit watching after 1:35 would be left with only the shock factor of the video. Won't you be showing your suspension? If this is my 1st time watching a Fearless and Far video or anything about body suspension, I'd look forward to getting some explanation as to the "what", "why" and "what for" of body suspension. Especially, as to why you did it. I am absolutely looking forward to seeing this video up on YouTube as well as the comments! This might get demonitized, but this kind of content is so YOU!
