Assets Library Restructure - March 2025

Hello everyone!

As advertised in our latest community update, we are adjusting our file organization and distribution in response to the upcoming Patreon pricing model changes.

What’s Changing

Since the beginning, we have always made our map assets freely available, and over time we’ve built an extensive library containing over 140,000 assets—including assets, textures, brushes, and overlays.

Our whole library was restructured to improve accessibility and scalability and to support our content delivery changes detailed further bellow. Instead of a single massive folder, assets are categorized into structured folders based on biomes (e.g., Arctic, Desert, Woodlands, etc.).

With !Core_Settlements being one of the top-level folders containing all the “Basic” fantasy medieval European style settlements that you can most likely utilize everywhere else.

New Content Delivery

!Core Mapmaking Pack - Our current library updated with this new structure, this pack will no longer receive new regular updates, though it will still be available for Free download.

Premium Addons (Subscriber Only) - Moving forward, our focus is mainly going to be expanding our offering in various biomes.

These will be our premium, biome-specific expansion packs designed to work with our Core Pack and expand upon it — starting with the Arctic Biome. The first batch of asset content updates will most likely arrive tomorrow.

Speaking of Content Updates ~
With this new structure and approach, our usual "Dungeon Decor" "Vehicles" "Prefabs" etc. packs don’t really make sense anymore. Instead, we’ll be switching to "Assets Content Update" releases — essentially update packages to our Library as a whole. Each content update may touch upon one or multiple biomes, and may vary in size and scope.

This gives us much more flexibility with releases and updates. If there’s a specific thing we want to add to the library— say, a couple of fallen candelabras — we no longer need to build a whole "Dungeon Decor" pack around it. We can simply include it in the next content update alongside other additions, even if they’re unrelated.

As mentioned, our first batch of content updates is most likely dropping tomorrow~

(Preview of the first Content Update banner below — there will be 3 parts releasing!)

These first updates will form our very first Premium Addon — Arctic.
Available exclusively to our active subscribers, with multiple updates planned throughout April.

FAQ - Quick Answers:

We understand these are big changes, and we truly appreciate your patience as we adapt.
Later this year, we'll also be reorganizing how tokens and CSP brushes are handled — but for now, this restructure only applies to standalone mapmaking assets.

Yep, fixed.

Hi. Some of the related posts now have the "Assets Content Updates" tag, others only the "Assets" tag. Can this be aligned? Besides that: Great work, thanks!

Phil

Yeah that's correct. Some of the very _Old stuff was removed, majority of which have new replacements already but were still lurking around in the gallery. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/858640583526187040/1350085866990735440/image.png?ex=67e9e432&is=67e892b2&hm=8b2cb0352e651b7c4286a28afe6a5dbdb78a41ea9113184a04e889d221028eeb& Some overview of removed stuff. Some of which have replacements in the works at the moment.

So, the best way to proceed going forward if we haven't been using any of the integrations or packs, but have ALL the assets stored in a massive hierarchy, would be to: - rename old hierarchy FA_Assets_Old - start a new root file hierarchy FA_Assets - download the 3 Core Mapmaking zips, and expand into there - future zips expand into there, starting with March Arctic release (3 more zip's) Do I have that right? If so, are there assets in the OLD hierarchy, assuming I have everything ever released, that would not be under the 3 Core zips? If so, is there a guide someplace as to how to merge these together so everything ends up in the new structure?

DungeonDraft 2025 integration remains unchanged, this restructure only applies to standalone mapmaking assets. Yes when DD intragtion gets updated, you need to redownload the new version of that whole package and delete the old version.

Forgotten Adventures

Hi there. So I just joined for the first time a few days ago. I have only used your assets with dungeon draft so far. Is any of this applicable to me? Will the integration pack be updated with your new content going forward? Also, this is a more general question but do I simply redownload the entire integration pack when you do an update? Sorry if these are dumb questions I just started trying to wrap my head around dungeon draft and I’m not really sure if this changes what little I’ve learned so far.

Doctor_Mckay

Would it be possible to release in webp? I usually have to convert them after I download them but if bandwidth is an issue then webp would offer you a deal of savings for people who already want them in that format.

There are no changes to tiers yet, any tier grants access. However there will most likely be changes later this year as we have to switch to the monthly model. We will share more details once we have things finalized

Forgotten Adventures

I have subscribed with the scribe tier for the last 5 years , how will the patron change effect me ?
