Legend of Faune - Devblog #1

Hello Dear Supporters,

After the release Elliot Quest i decided to take a rest from Game Dev and polish my "Pixel Art" but recently i decided to continue working on my second game "Legend Of Faune" (working title).

Basically its a top view puzzle game game in the style of "Adventures of Lolo" from the NES mix with exploration in the same way of the "The Legend of Zelda". I am not sure yet if i'm going to implement some kind of battle system since i would like a more relaxed game with mystery, exploration and puzzles.

What i,ve done in these last 2 months:

- Made a "Fixed" camera system in the style of "The Legend of Zelda" so players can only see a fixed window displaying a grid of 19x11 Tiles. Made it so i can separate puzzles by window and keep a cleaner design.

- I have made all the animation of "Faune" so right now she can run, walk, push, lift objects, push and faint (die). Also i drawed a tile set for the "Beach Area" which may be the firs area of the game.

- The game mechanic so far is this: The player has a limited Stamina bar which decrease with every action the player make. So roaming around and pushing objects randomly wont help you, you have to plan carefully your path in order to advance. This mechanics may change in the future since this is the initial idea and i stil playing with it. There are some scattered crystals that replenish the stamina bar and as any Zelda game there are gonna be some "Power Up items" that will enhance the player.

Running out of stamina

Thats all for now hope to hear your thoughts on the comments section.

Thanks. Frustration is normal . its a sign that you encountered an obstacle . Patience and practice is the cure for this. If you are encountering many obstacles you should restructure your game a little, making it more simple and reducing its scope. I wrote an article about this a while ago take a look and good luck http://ansimuz.com/site/archives/579

I think it's amazing that you can keep your motivation up for such a project. I'm making my first game ever (just a small fan game), and I keep getting frustrated. How do you not pull your hair out lol

On the contrary. Im still doing the pixelart and additionally the gamedev. No worries.

Luis Zuno

So are you no longer doing the pixel art stuff?

Thanks for the feedback. Its too early to decide if there,s gonna be a redo mechanic. Thanks for the feedback i really appreciate it.

I love puzzle games and am eager to see this one evolve :) Not sure if you want feedback already but I'm forcing one on you now anyways: I like the stamina bar idea but pretty please make an undo button. One thing I don't like about limited moves is when I have to redo the level just because I missclicked or made a minor wrong move :)
