The Untamed Episode 12

I know you’ve seen many more episodes then which must have clarified things, but i’ll leave this here just in case anyone coming this way has the same questions. The Wen Clan wants power over all of the other clans, it’s not just an honor thing to not rebel against the Wens, every other clan knows that the lives of their respective clan members are at risk so they don’t dare act, and all of their weapons were taken away. The other clans appear weaker because they don't care for power, they care about wisdom and knowledge and enlightment, to better exorcise demons and other entities. They’re peaceful and have friendly relationships, they don’t fight amongst themselves so they don’t necessarily shine in combat against other cultivators. The Wen Clan, at least that branch wants to wipe out everyone to have ultimate control over the world, this “lecture” thing is just a pretense, it’s just a way to keep everyone in check, and instill fear. They are hostages, it’s no school like back in Gusu. They all know it. Also they’re not that “obviously” the bad guys from the get-go, the Wen clan wasn’t worse than any other clan before, as you can guess by their ancient rules, and by the personality of Wen Ning, Wen Qing, their grandma from a few episodes back etc. It’s just their current leader who turned the clan to something awful. But the other clans didn’t really know how evil they had become until said evil came knocking on their doors. Even Wen Ning and Wen Qing who are from the clan (different branch) are forced into submission because of the threats on Wen Ning’s life. BTW when you saw that scene you didn’t realize that the family that was attacked by the soul-eating dancing statue was theirs, and that the kid who’s soul was getting eaten was Wen Ning which is why he appears weak and slow-witted as he described himself. Which is why Wen Qing is trying so hard to protect him. Lan Zhan doesn’t speak much usually but he doesn’t really speak at all here because he is filled with anger, but also knows they have the metal +his clan suffered much already. They can’t all just rebel without a plan or weapons, or use their other powers when all of their clans are at risk, they can only submit. +This is just the beginning of the end, it’s all the prequel to why Wei Wuxian becomes the Yiling Patriarch. You may wonder “where is this even going” but all of these episodes will explain all future questions you (general audience) can have. This is story building. I’m gonna keep watching your reactions and i really hope you end up really liking the show as the story progresses! I really love all of the story, the only thing that bugs me in this show are the bad CGI or like that big dog thing that’s way too obviously a mechanical prop :(

Actually, the Wen clan is superior to other clans in the sense that the Wen clan leader is the head of all clans (calling chief of cultivation) so he is above all clans, so they cannot rebel easily... If, they rebel, the Wen clan can exterminate the sect, since they have power now with Yin Iron. Normally the Wen clan had rules before the current clan leader decides not to apply them and they do what they want... I want to clarify that Wen Ning and Wen Qing do not come from the same branch as the clan leader Wen so they have their own way of seeing things, they come from a medical branch, so they have their own motto But in a few episodes everything will change
