I agree..I think that since she’s lost her powers..she sees herself as less than..and is afraid Mike will think the same.

I think El just wants Mike to think that she is doing really well instead of him seeing that she isn't a desired friend to others. I think El doesn't want Mike to think she's a "loser". I'll say it again, I very much dislike Jason.
