Enjoyed the reaction! Really like your insights and predictions. You now see why this arc was so vital that they had to adapt it even if the timeline was rearranged. I'm so happy Akane has been properly introduced now. His addition to the cast is fun to me. As you noted, he's exactly like Yashiro with his situation yet his feelings towards apparitions couldn't be more different. He makes for such a great contrast against Yashiro and Kou's more understanding natures. I also just like how it expands his gags too. Now you too can experience Akane's harsh but funny dialogue. They sadly cut one of my favorite throwaway lines from him this episode. This isn't a spoiler, so I hope I could say this. In the manga, after he explains his forced contract, he makes fun of Yashiro because he finds out she swallowed the mermaid scale on purpose and asks her if she's a masochist. Kou tries to cheer her up by saying he thinks its cool. It's a cute and funny small gag, I get why they cut it out but I'm still a little sad it got cut.
