Jonathan is ready to watch this John Carpenter classic!

Good stuff, Jonathan. This original is one of my all-time favorites that I’ve seen way too many times to count. The franchise can seem a bit complicated from the outside, but it can be broken down into several clear paths that I’ve detailed below. Think of these as a "choose your own adventure" series of films. I prefer the Second Reboot Arc (1, 11-13), but I also like watching 1 & 2 as a simple 2-film arc. Anyway, Happy Halloween!
Original Arc. One and 2 are fantastic. After that, they tend to go a bit off the rails.
1. Halloween (1978)
2. Halloween II (1981)
3. Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
4. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
5. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
6. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
Reboot Arc. They tried to integrate some nostalgia from the greatness of the first two, but they fell a bit short.
1. Halloween (1978)
2. Halloween II (1981)
7. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
8. Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
Remakes by Rob Zombie. Some interesting ideas that don’t pull punches, but most fans selectively “forget” that these even exist.
9. Halloween (2007)
10. Halloween II (2009)
Second Reboot Arc. This is my personal favorite, and the arc that I recommend to anyone who asks. It begins with this original film, then continues with a new trilogy written and directed by David Gordon Green as if 2 through 10 never existed. All four of these films star Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, maintain the mythos established in the original film, and complete a compelling four-film story.
1. Halloween (1978)
11. Halloween (2018)
12. Halloween Kills (2021)
13. Halloween Ends (2022)
