Please keep in mind that this was very low budget even for its time. It was $6.4M US in 1984 (about $19.9M in 2025 dollars) which I think makes the production value of this movie even more miraculous. Cameron's on-the-job training in Roger ("King of the B-Movie") Corman movies included Battle Beyond the Stars (1980), Galaxy of Terror (1981), and Piranha II: The Spawning (1981). Of these, I still have a soft spot for BBtS which has a familiar storyline (which I won't spoil). He was also Dir. of Photography: Special Visual Effects on Escape from NY (1981) which I highly recommend if you haven't already seen it. I look forward to your T2 reaction. I'm ok with either cut.
