Saw this when it came down with my dad. And even back then we knew how great of an actor Gene was, but for me Dennis Hopper is the star of this film.. He was such a great actor. I loved everything he ever did. As for favorite sports films...Costner does two types of films very well: Westerns and Sports films. Gotta check out Draft Day(about the NFL draft) & MacFarland USA(about high school cross country running, how often do you see a film about that?), Other favorite sports films: Warrior, We are Marshall, The Sandlot, Secretariat and Seabiscuit, Southpaw, Miracle, Moneyball, Jerry Maguire, Invincible, 61*, 42, Borg McEnroe, Brians Song, Cinderella Man and Eddie the Eagle. Those are a quick list of my favorites that you didn’t mention.. Can’t name just 3

I really loved how everyone in this movie is given the opportunity to grow and expand to embrace something that, at it's core, was based on the honesty and dedication of the coach which flowed out towards his team and the town. Based on a true story. Thank you for your reaction. Oh, and in no particular order, my three favorite sports movies are The Natural, Field of Dreams, and Hoosiers.
