Coby has done Star Wars so clearly she had to do Dune!

Hey Coby, the reason Zendaya was (for the most part) not in part 1 is that her character, Chani, doesn't really do anything until the back half of the book.
Chani gets a lot more to do in part 2.
Also, a great many sci-fi franchises drew on the original Dune novel for inspiration. Star Wars, notably, directly lifted a number of elements which you've already mentioned (the Force/Way, the desert setting, water scarcity, large worm in the desert/asteroid, and the "Chosen One" narrative.
The Dune novel (and book series) engages a lot more into the politics of the world than Star Wars which highlights the differences in the central themes of Star Wars and Dune. Star Wars is based on pulp fiction serials of the late 30s and early 40s (e.g., Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon). Dune is an entirely different beast. Star Was is a a pure action-adventure, good vs. evil, bravery, and growing up movie. (Themes which often, though not exclusively, Lucas has explored in his movies -- shoutout to THX-1138.) Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey is almost a template for Star Wars. (I can't comment on the actual themes of Dune here; you're not far enough into the story.)
There are other adaptations (Lynch's 1984 movie and the 2000 and 2003 miniseries) which are quite interesting if you're interested in the universe. In particular, the miniseries is notable because it covers so much more of the story -- just with a relatively low budget and early 2000s cgi. So, it definitely looks dated.

I love the reaction and more sci-fi. Keep in mind that Dune was written and published between 1963 and 1965. Any similarities you see to Star Wars should probably be reversed.
