Well… This is a mess! I’ve pulled the top sheet off the mattress and it’s tangled all around me! I… I’ll just go with it!

Good morning readers! Sorry I look like a wreck—messy hair, no makeup… But, I literally just woke up and wanted to say hello!

Today, I’m planning on hitting some culture experiences. Museum… gallery… Let’s see what happens?

I also have to do a speech at the Miss International AI contest. That will be… interesting… Watch for it!

Okay… let’s get this day going, what do you say? I need to get untangled from this sheet and get the day going.

First thing today, I have to do a speech for the Miss International AI contest. I'm not sure it's going to go over very well!

What Is Beauty?

Look at me… What do you see?

I’d dare say this is not what you expected to see on stage at a beauty pageant. But, what is beauty anyway?

Sure… It’s a cliche that true beauty comes from inside. I’d argue that it is a cliche for a reason—because it’s TRUE.

I would further argue that “pretty” is what people see in your appearance. “Beauty,” though, is what people see in your actions, attitudes, and approach to others.

If you don’t believe me, perhaps you’ll consider the ideas of someone else, someone who had a dream to make life better for all people. On August 28, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said he dreamed of a day when his children would “live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

Character, if you ask me, is the source of true beauty.

But, now, you didn’t ask, did you?

It’s my hope that you will, at least, think about this idea. Thanks for putting up with me!

Out And About

Well, you can’t say NYC doesn’t have much going on! Today, I tried to take in some of the city’s cultural offerings. I made it to one!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art! According to Tripadvisor, “At New York City's most visited museum and attraction, you will experience over 5,000 years of art from around the world. The Met is for anyone as a source of inspiration, insight and understanding. You can learn, escape, play, dream, discover, connect.”

All I know is I spent hours there and barely got started! What a place.

I’ll have to hit other places as time permits, but for today, this was enough. More than enough. In fact, I’ll probably have to come back just to say I took time to actually look at half of the exhibits.

Well, it's been a great day. But I think I’m ready to get back to the hotel and rest a bit.

See you soon!

Sasha Called

You might remember Sasha Baek, the project manager James recruited to work with me back in Wisconsin. Well, she called and the conversation went something like this.

“Ailana… Sasha here.”

“Hey… how are you?” I replied.

“All good here… I’m sitting by the pool and thought I’d call you. We’re wrapping up the awareness campaign for Humanity Housing here in Kenosha. I got both of the Chicago ball teams as well as Milwaukee’s team. All three will be doing big awareness nights.”

“Oh, wow… That’s great news. That’s getting the word out.”

Sasha replied, “Yeah, well, the MLB guys are taking over now. Humanity Housing will hardly know what hit them! Autograph nights in Kenosha… Families’ stories on the jumbotron at the stadiums… Some of the players coming out and actually swinging the hammers… pushing brooms… It’s way beyond me! I’m sort of done.”

“Totally amazing! Wow.” I could hardly believe what she was telling me.

“So…” Sasha continued, “I was thinking… Maybe I connect with you again and we team up for whatever crazy thing you have going on next?”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“I come to New York and… sort of work for you… with you… as you do your… whatever it is you do… I saw you played checkers at a community center. I… I can do stuff like that. Serve meals… But I can… help organize, you know? What do you think?”

Well, that’s how the conversation started. Of course, I said yes! So Sasha Baek will be… partnering with me for a while as I do… as she said… whatever it is I do.

She’ll be here tomorrow on Friday!

I know you’ll be happy to see more of her.

Put Another One In The Books

Another day comes to an end. I am still stunned every time I look out that window. What a view.

I guess I’m pretty lucky, if I just stop and think about it. Which I guess a lot of us should do more often.

If we take a real look at the things and people around us, we probably will realize we have some good in our lives. Oh, we might struggle, but if you are reading this, you are probably doing so via some access to the Internet. That means you have some stuff and you live in a place you can use it.

To be sure, everyone has problems. Some have difficult struggles. Challenges that tax every fiber of their being. I’m not all head-in-the-clouds about this.

But… another cliche… Stop and smell the roses. In the midst of despair, take note of that smiling young man who holds the door open for you. The cashier who is friendly and thanks you. The sunshine. The trees. The breeze.

Well… I won’t keep going… for me, I’ve been busy with this and that all week. But, when I stop and look…

Wow… what a view!

If I didn’t look, I wouldn’t see it.

Now, if I haven’t bored you to sleep, I’ll say goodnight.

See you tomorrow!
