Development Update
Added 2021-02-10 14:30:33 +0000 UTCHey!
Over the past two months, I have continued to deal with a few personal issues. I'm sorry for being quiet and the long delay, but I have not stopped working on My Demon Friend even if the plan has changed significantly from what I originally intended. I'll make a list of all my changes, so there isn't just a massive wall of text.
Tiers:
I will be removing the credits reward from the $1 tier. It doesn't take any time out of my day, but I've decided to remove it because some people dislike it, don't want to appear in the credits, among other reasons I won't detail here. Any patrons not on the credits list but have pledged before this post will be added to it.
It will still appear in the game, but names will no longer be added to it after this post.
Chapter Two:
"Chapter Two" has officially been scrapped for the game. As I worked on it, I encountered various issues, such as the guardian angel being useless, so I removed her. Then I struggled with the female protagonist. I had no idea what to do with her without it just being very boring to write.
So, I understood this was not just a problem with Chapter Two, but with the game as a whole. So, I've taken the past month to overhaul a lot of issues with the game. It now has:
- A new UI.
- A new start screen.
- Re-worked dialogue boxes.
- A re-worked introduction for both the male and female protagonist.
- The male and female storyline has been merged, they'll now play very similarly, but characters and content from the first chapter still exist. I haven't deleted a ton of content.
- I have added new, fun gameplay systems that feature new consequences for both the male and female protagonist.
- I am in the process of making each storyline more interactive and fun to progress through, along with making the game easier to understand. I know a lot of people were confused about how to progress.
- And finally, a big change I've made is adding sound effects to the game. I've got no idea how many people will use it, but I personally like it and wanted to try it out. I believe it makes the game feel much more alive and adds flavor and something new to previous content. If you'd prefer not to hear them, you can mute the tab or one of the many other ways to mute the sound.
I've undoubtedly missed a couple of things, but I think I've covered all the big changes. If you're not already on the discord server, feel free to join. You can give suggestions, report bugs, talk to me directly.
