v0.13 Progress Report

Hey, lovelies!

I have been pretty busy with the new update and finally wanted to detail a few of the changes, some you might have already noticed! 

I'll start with the Patreon changes :) These are only small, but I thought I would address them regardless. I've very obviously spruced up the page by removing the old banners. This change means I will be getting rid of the "Alex Episode One" subtitle. And the last difference is I have renamed work in progress build to beta builds as I believe this better represents them as fully playable versions of the current progress I have made so far.

One small change that will probably go unnoticed also is that I have massively improved the file structure in the latest update. It kind of bugged me how Alex was still called "Samantha" in the files, and it was just kind of a mess, but now it's fixed Yay!

A significant change I made is the dialogue system. I got tired of how the text is displayed in-game, and it will look better now. You'll be able to separate the first person and third person dialogue easily.

With this change, I have given a majority of the dialogue a fresh lick of paint too. I realize I have been slacking in this department, so I took the time to re-read a lot of it and have re-wrote various pieces of it. For example, things will now play out slightly differently for a variety of events such as:


The Introduction:

You'll now start the game with a cracked cellphone that occasionally refuses to work and meet Samuel in the introduction instead of the seventh day. I have also separated the passages to make it more visual novel-like.


Samuel's Rent:

I have taken the feedback from multiple players from this and have re-wrote a lot of the dialogue and changed the order of events. You'll still see the same content but with slightly different conversations and in a separate order.

You'll have the option to choose whether you want a reminder to clean his apartment, which brings me to the next change. You'll now only be able to clean Samuel's apartment on certain days throughout the week and only after work. I did this because people thought it was grindy even though I intended it to be optional, but hopefully, this works out better. 


Morning Routine:

On my quest to combat the grind affecting my game, I have massively overhauled the morning routine system. It'll now be more varied with a different event happening on each day apart from Saturday and Sunday.  I have also re-wrote some of the dialogue for existing content here. 


Living Room: 

I've cleaned up various dialogue in the living room and included a new event that was accidentally removed in v0.11 when I cleaned the code. I forgot how many events the living room has. I was surprised while re-reading and fixing the dialogue on how much I had added. 

    

Along with all these changes I plan for a bunch more such as fixing the grind of the Reverie storyline along with making the Agency storyline more varied at the Office. I'll also be finally adding the nightclub, and it's events along with adding new content to the park and re-working the bus system. New content will, of course, be explicitly added to the property agent storyline, but these changes will take time, and all I can do is ask for your valued patience :)!
