How many of you trust Public or Private Schools?

Reason I am asking is I believe I may have a realistic solution for concerned parents in regards to homeschooling. Traditional home schooling just is not an option for some, especially single parents, some of us also worry about the socialization aspect.

I might trust a private school but it would obviously depend on where and what it offered.

Homeschool is the only way to stop the indoctrination

I don't know much about either. I went to department of defense dependent schools in west germany - there was a lot of money and support for DOD at the time (cold War era) and I felt safe and properly educated. Because of the terrorist threat we often had MPs and working dogs there for us. Several kids in my class and the year ahead of me went to all the major military academies. I was maybe 12th or 13th in my class. Not sure what they did or how it differed but they were doing it right. I don't hear a lot of negative about that experience. Very concerned for my two young godkids 5 and almost 9. Hopefully their parents consider faith based academies accessible to them. No place is perfect. Parents must take responsibility also. My parents were very involved in my education and sports etc. If you go public you can certainly be involved and attentive to the school board. Home school has blown up in recent years and many options there too. I went to my goddaughters open house as her parents were both at work that night. I was pleased with the structure and overall curriculum and supervision but I did not care for gender neutral bathrooms, de-esclation rooms, pride theme, and one classroom indeed had a sign that something along lines of "I will be your mom no matter what you are " sort of thing. This school is pre k through 1st. Too young for that shit. And that is family decision when and how to address. School is for basic education, sports and related extra activities, art and music. Simple and appropriate supervision and accountability. Violent kids in the schools I've seen locally in my town and as a nurse in a psych er and there is no accountability. Security is variable with no consistency. So much for parents to consider. Tour the facilities, meet the staff. Not just teachers. Ask questions. Attend board meetings and participate in the voting etc. We had a situation recently in our local high school where security officer trying to address a fight or something and some girls then jumped him and went for his gun and pepper spray. School was lax to report this to parents and community nor has there been any follow-up on this or consequences. The students were expelled from neighboring city schools and thus attending ours apparently. So it is a mix of concern for the system itself and the people attending, especially in this social climate and a startling number of families raising children with horrific behavior. *lifestyles of others is not my business but my 4 year old goddaughter shouldn't have to see that crap when she is learning to get along, follow directions, read a bit, write letters and numbers and have exercise, arts, music etc. It made me absolutely sick.*

My wife is a 24 year 2nd grade teacher in the SF Bay Area, in CA. We live in Tennessee, and she commutes. She feels like she's working behind enemy lines. She has to constantly pre-screen all books, videos, and other school materials for things that have no place in a 2nd grade education. Sexual material, CRT, DEI, climate change, etc., are being prioritized over math, reading/writing, history, and science. Most teachers refuse to even put an American flag in their classroom.

Although my answer was “neither”, I would trust about any private school over about any public school. Public schools have become government indoctrination centers. I was outraged when my son came home from our local “good” government elementary school spouting nonsense about how Christopher Columbus was an evil person who only spread diseases to natives in the western hemisphere. Then there was misinformation about our Founding Fathers, including George Washington. Since my son’s time, government schools have become outright anti-American. Take your children out now if they are attending these institutions of mid-education. I’ve learned that even some private schools have become “woke” in recent years, sadly.

Private primary and secondary schools are generally better, some are less woke, but all education is pretty flawed these days. Even private schools are banning books. For example, Mark Twain’s “Huckleberry Finn” is no longer acceptable because they claim it’s racially insensitive. The curriculum is dumbed down and the general quality of teachers is poor. My mother was a public high school teacher, I respect the teaching profession, but it’s no longer a respectable profession for normal people. I was myself a product of the Ivy League, which is now contaminated by outright lies and groupthink. Free speech and free thought is virtually dead. University education - except for engineering, science, medicine - is a waste of time. Full time home schooling for primary & secondary school is a real challenge even for the most ambitious parents, but extra home lessons and enrichment are the way to go. Tutoring, pursuit of hobbies and practical knowledge, travel, and encouraging an inquisitive mind in your kids.

I went to our church’s private school that was created specifically for Christian families who didn’t trust public or private catholic schools. It was a very small school, about 250 kids K-12. It was great until my senior year, when they had a church change, and the new church started introducing new religious and social concepts that were based on left leaning ideologies. So it really depends on who owns the private school that will decide whether you can trust your children with said institution.

Group home schooling, 5-6 families helping each other, with comon ideas, faith etc, be creative in finding resources, I am 65 and if I was a young married man today opt out of every area of this woke, secular socienty and work with other families of faith and develope new yet traditional rural communities, to give my children a chance. Read the Benedict option by Rod Dreher, great book, Rod would be a great interview.

Twenty years ago Iistened in disbelief to my public speaking class instructor tell us "actually a man can get pregnant." The s__t from the universities has finally found it's way into our children's classrooms. These activists are willing to make $40K a year and indoctrinate children as if it's some sort of secular religious order of Leftism.

Do the homework on the schools of interest, make an appt to meet with administration (Principal, Headmaster) ask for the schools policy and protocols regarding visitors (parents, too), lock down, security for school day and security for school events before and after the school day. Also, as a child ages and becomes more involved in extracurricular activities (travel, visiting teams etc) what are the safety and security protocols.
