CQB Footwork Applied to Doorways

Hello Tier II and III,

Here's a video on footwork applied to doorways. This stuff takes a while to digest and apply but will help you not get caught up in the fatal funnel upon entry. For you Patrons who have been around for a while and have seen this lesson last year, let me know what you pick up from watching it again with a fresh set of eyes. Footwork is one of the hardest facets to master.

We are filming SRS #014 tomorrow and can't wait to share this story! Been all hands on deck with episode prep but will have some exclusive content for Patrons this week.

Thank you for the support on Patreon! Ya'll are making awesome things happen at Vigilance Elite.

Cheers!

Hey guys great video! Are the follow up lessons also uploaded (I may just be blind lol)?

Hi Jeffrey, in this case with the door open he would have checked centerline in the door upon approach. When coming up to an open door you should be clearing as much space as possible as to make less work when you finally do make entry.

I have a question as I am an LEO and am on a tactical team. I like the footwork aspect of it but my issue is (unless I did not see it) how you did not check the middle of the room at least with your eyes before making entry into the door. There have been times when I made entry into a center fed room and someone is in the middle of the room and not the hard corner. Is there a reason you did not check the center of the room before pushing the hard corner or are you depending on your team to follow in after and cover that area of the room? I work for a smaller agency and have been to shootings and had to make entry with only one other officer.

It is important to know how far away help is too. Check out the latest post. I think there are some concepts in there that will be helpful when developing a defensive mindset with your family. Especially the Link To Me concept.

Shawn

Good footwork is absolutely vital to be good at CQB

Shawn

There's a few pistol videos we could do.

Going a little deeper with my situation, my wife and I live pretty remote. Chances are good that we won’t have a burglar any time soon however with being remote it also means the first responders CANT get to us in time. There’s no way. Of course we will make sure that our dogs are safe but after that she and I are gonna be on our own for at least 20 minutes after a call. I will have to go on the offense. I just don’t see another way. I feel if we wait for police then a dangerous perp will have a chance to ambush/attack us. I’m not just gonna get in my car and drive away . Both my wife and myself have been robbed once and my mind won’t let me just sit still and wait. I feel like if someone is at our house with it being remote they will feel free to be violent and then slip away undetected. We have fortified the home and have a security system and moved out to be remote for this reason but things happen.

Great stuff bro. I think this is a vital component which is frequently ignored. Thanks for the info. It makes you realize you don't know what you don't know.

Mike Medic

If you do a video on 1 man breach/clear, would you do me a solid and go over if "we" were using a pistol?

Bro. Morris
