Body Armor Carbine Stabilization

Hello Tiers II and III,

This video came from a discussion on a Tier III live chat a while back but should be revisited now that we have many new Patrons who probably haven't seen this one. The question was how to tighten up groupings while shooting offhand out past 60 yards and at a quicker rate of fire. The member who asked was hitting about a 4 inches off when shooting rapid fire offhand and was looking for more stability when picking up the pace. Keep it up, that's actually great shooting offhand rapid fire, training and range time will hone it in.

This video covers one of the techniques that helped me during some of the tougher qualifications at the agency.

Please let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.

Catching up on vids... Sean, where would you put the buttstock normally with the body armor on? Just have it on part of the strap? I don't have body armor yet but am considering a chest rig, so I'm curious.

Back in the day… WAYYYY back I used to tuck my stock into the right side of my webgear shoulder strap just to give a little for reference and support from flopping on the move…

AimPoint. Kinda retro at this point but it still gets the job done. Check this older post out, I talked about this setup as one of the very first Patreon posts. I still like shooting this thing from time to time. https://www.patreon.com/posts/34765586

This will probably depend on the size plates and how the carrier fits you. Does it cover the pocket where your arm attaches to your shoulder? Might need smaller plates for enhanced mobility, they make lots of different cuts these days. Also, check out https://www.tacticaltailor.com/ they have lots of good fitting stuff.

Shawn

That would probably make some solid inspiration for some good content.

Shawn

Always the little things

Shawn

What scope is that? Lol

Seth

A few months ago on your carbine fundamentals vid I asked about this for a smaller person. A plate covers a lot of my upper body so if it covers the area where I would normally shoulder a stock, would I just put it over that area?

Shawn I hear you mention the CIA quals a bit, I've tried to look them up or any info on them and there's not much out there. Mostly just FBI standards. Would you mind sharing some of the more challenging shoots and time requirements needed? In the BW episode you mention a timed 25m pistol shoot? I'm sure they keep them under wraps, so maybe show us some drills time timed goals. Thanks for the previous pointers!

Its the little things!

Thanks BillB. This is a good one to help maintain stability.

Shawn

Sweet hack, thanks Shawn.
