Situational Awareness: Case the Joint

In this video I cover my mindset when casing a place. For this example we use a restaurant.

We'll be back on the range soon for filming but I also wanted to teach more mindset lessons/exercises. Situational awareness is extremely important and can help you actively avoid unnecessary confrontation.

Let me know what you think of this type of content in the comments below.

Cheers!

Thanks Shawn, it is important to have the mindset of awareness. My wife and I walked out of a subway in Paris and found ourselves in a hostile situation with the police and a minority population. You need to react immediately and in this case a quick exit was the only good choice. Fortunately everyone was paying attention to the police, and we were able to quickly remove ourselves from the area. By the way, Moulin Rouge was amazing.

Last two vacations, this really helped my wife. Went to Israel, Turkey, Spain, Italy, France, & Greece. Her understanding of S/A was so improved that I was amazed. Seeing her identify the areas and routes to take helped me focus more as well - awesome vids.

This Video was good. Weapons and places of opportunity… I also like view the in and out traffic of the place and no corners. Great Video

Um....Lights out inside so the enemy can't see you from the outside.

Rob

Yup!

Should your fuel tank always be full?

Well that’s funny my wife thinks I’m crazy or paranoid cause I do that shit all the time no matter where we go even if it’s just going to the shop !!

This was really helpful to see. We need people like you teaching us. I hope things don't go where we are all thinking it might be.

Thanks Nikolas. More of these coming soon.

Good video. That’s something the average Joe doesn’t think about but probably should. Would love to see a big box store, movie theater etc. like the gentleman above mentioned.

These are some good ideas!

Big hotels, Six Flags, theaters, State Fair, crowded venues etc .... how might we act as 'security detail' for our family? In my case 6yr old, 12 yr old, and mama bear.

Big box store can be a chaotic environment. I'll keep that in mind.

I’m the past few years I’ve been spending a lot more time with situational awareness in public. I use to be pretty oblivious to it, but now I’m always looking for quick exits, security cameras, flood lights, fighting tools, cover, etc. One of the places that still gives me problems, is big box stores, like Walmart, Kroger, malls, Lowe’s. A few of these places have popped up in recent history as mass shooting events. I’m always looking for where I would take my kids and run for cover, or to exit. With places that big, I can’t even imagine the panic that would happen if there was an emergency or incident. Any rate, this is good stuff to talk about. It’s not the sexy tacticool stuff, but still really important.
