How often do you clean your EDC?
Added 2021-05-11 22:23:52 +0000 UTCHello Tier II and Tier III,
We get a lot of questions on cleaning and weapons maintenance since we've started Patreon. Lots of good videos on YouTube on how to assemble and disassemble and also check your manual.
It is important to have clean weapons. I'm not obsessive about cleaning but I do go by feel usually when press checking. Let me know how often you guys are cleaning in the comments.
*As always, adhere to all firearms safety rules and range commands at your facility. For more info on safety, see https://www.nrablog.com/articles/2015/7/the-rules-of-nra-gun-safety/

I guess I'm due for a cleaning. Bought my current EDC almost a year ago, and straight out the box I've never cleaned nor oiled it. The only time it ever malfunction is when I bought a cheap box ammo at the range once. Other than that, over 5,000 rounds and it performs very well.

2023-06-24 06:55:25 +0000 UTCMy personal preference. I shoot 3-4 days each week (handguns mostly, except during hunting seasons). I clean every time I shoot. Not 'obsessive scrubbing' but a general cleaning. Use old fashion 3-in-1 oil when putting things back together. My father gave me my first 410 shotgun when I was 6 years old. He taught me to clean it before he taught me to shoot it. The rest has been history. I'm 50 years old now and have stayed with this principle.........throughout life, during my years of service, etc. It has served me well. Some folks have told me not to clean the inside of my barrels on my competition guns. I do and have never seen an issue. It could be because I'm not at a level some folks are, but nevertheless, I have many thousands of round through a variety of handgun platforms and other than the usual stuff, very very few issues due to cleaning......my 2-cent's worth.

2021-05-19 17:25:28 +0000 UTCI clean and lube using CLP (because it doesn't gum up and freeze in the Minnesota winters) after a range day.

2021-05-14 07:47:36 +0000 UTCI liked this not for the actual subject matter but for the way you approached the subject. Common sense and basics. Keep it simple, it applies to more than just cleaning your edc and is always there at your disposal.
