Tires only have traction when rolling, not when static/skidding.

2022-02-04 06:28:04 +0000 UTCYou can’t turn during a skid, and hard brake plus turning throws your center gravity onto turning tire and either brakes traction or worse rolls a vehicle in soft terrain or high center gravity vehicle like F250. That’s why they taught to always let off brake to turn, and if you break traction on steering tires in a turn (due to breaking) let off brake, let go of wheel to allow tires to go straight and regain traction then turn once traction is re established. Not saying that is proper training, but that is what I was taught. If there’s flaws in this tactic please correct me.

2021-11-13 07:26:24 +0000 UTCI used to work for Schlumberger and they had an amazing driving course with former high speed pursuit trainers. I already was very comfortable with drifting and J turns as I live up north and that’s a daily thing half the year. They had roads with signs that would pop up and we would brake hard to reduce speed of time allowed, off brake and turn to miss object, then brake while leaving roadway, let off and turn parallel to roadway then brake to a stop. They also had multiple football field sized wet paved lots that we would enter at a high speed and they had a controller that would lock up different brakes/ tires to put us in different skids and figure out how to manipulate the vehicle. They had vehicles that they could control rear steering tires to simulate drifting which came pretty natural to a northerner lol. We did this in F150’s and F250’s as they were our issued vehicles, however they would put their CDL drivers through this in Semi trucks with trailers attached.. badass lol. Skidding tire always leads… every damn time. Very cool training, the stuff they didn’t teach us is the PIT and hitting vehicles just behind lightest axle to clear roadblocks and what not. Cool stuff, hope to see more videos like this, maybe a little rougher on the Vic tho lol.

2020-10-09 04:03:44 +0000 UTCI rode motorcycles for 20 years or so. One thing it did teach me was always find multiple ways out. Also you can tell what the vehicle is gonna do because they have a tendency to drift in their lane depending on which direction they wanna go.

2020-09-26 04:21:25 +0000 UTCI remain amazed how many people dont leave any out when driving. Just riding the guy in fronts tail lights.. I also live in this riot torn area. Ive learned to plan my trips to avoid the trouble spots ahead of time. Its bad, but I pre-plan my trip for all contingencies now.
