Good video… I think you can slightly turn and brake you just can’t upset the balance of the car. I really like the straight line tire braking you shared.. there’s a lot of truth to that.I did a lot of canyon running late at night in my younger days, got my back to rally SCCA license at 16 ..it really comes down to hitting the apex of a turn while taking the straightest path through that turn, all while not upsetting the balance of the car when accelerating or braking under turning. There’s a science to it. I really enjoy these types of videos…

I’m afraid you are mistaken about using the brake. The real key is the position of is Hands at the 10 and 2 o’clock position . Which doesn’t allow you to steer past the 9 and 3 wheel position.. This is why Dignitary / clandestine Mobile movement implement multiple vehicles, Usually 4 . Of those four vehicles 2 are used blocking to break contract from a threat . The other is a chase , 4 is the high value . Which makes it very rare to make a 90degree turn where braking is needed .

I love that car! Good call on the vehicle check.

Roadblocks will be a good one.The heads up driving in part II that came out today addresses some of that. Having a way out and not stopping is a big plus.

Shawn - That Crown vic sounds mean! Maybe if you do part III give us preview :) Great video!! Also, I know it's driving you're showing us here but I'll add it's always good to do a vehicle check or as I call it a quick 1, 2. Make sure tires are good, nothing crazy but just a quick walk around and fuel level is important as well.

Michael .

Shuffle-steering is good for more than keeping your arms from getting thrown into your face if the airbag deploys? Huh! TIL. Thanks Shawn! Since we're on cars, uh can you comment sometime on dealing with/making(?) roadblocks?

It's kind of like shooting grip where it might feel unnatural at first but becomes the norm through practice.

Thanks Chris!

Urban is on the list of videos. Roger that!

Part II coming tomorrow 👊🏻

I never would have thought of grip. Great advice. I drove with my thumbs over the wheel for the first time after watching. Initially, I feel like I don't have as much control on the wheel and could see myself reverting back to the thumbs under the wheel if things really went down. Once you got use to driving evasively with thumbs over the wheel did you like it better or was it always a little akward? Thanks Shawn.

Really good information!

Great video!! When I was at driving school they teach the tire should do one thing at a time turning braking or accelerating. Just to add the accelerating to your point. Maximizes the mechanical grip of the tire.

Nice! I live in a big city at the moment, Can you make a video of more close quarters i.e. I turn down a street and the street is blocked with "protestors", some tips and maneuvers for this. Thanks!

Al Evans

Crucial topic. Hope to see your take on J-turns & other GTFO quick tactics. Also, savvy UPS product placement. 🦾

Shawn, you might enjoy this. It's only 8 mins., but watch it with good speakers and a large screen. A crazy Frenchman drove this in 1976 with a movie camera on the bumper of his car with no editing or special effects. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJYOMFayruw
