Shield Arms Glock 43X/48 Mags

Hello Patrons,

PASSWORD: VEG43XMAG

I checked out the Shield Arms Glock 43X/48 Mags.  They hold 15 rounds and they are pretty badass. Got a lot of requests to try these.

Let me know what you guys think, I address some of the issues brought up from the teaser post the other day.

Thanks for the discussion and bringing these up. I like this community we're building.

New fundamentals video coming this week and more ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป.

Run these in my EDC but with the Shield arms magwell upgrade and an upgraded catch release. Put at least 1000 rounds through no issues as of yet. I have heard from buddies that they experience issues with mag release but Iโ€™m guessing thatโ€™s because they arenโ€™t following Shield Armsโ€™ guidelines for replacing catch release

Cuz Gaston was a plastics guy. The first mags swelled when filled and had to have steel liners added. Why not just use metal mags at that point? Gaston was ego.

Iโ€™ve not shot Glocks, but Iโ€™ve always wondered why have plastic mag on plastic frames? Plastic on plastic = friction? My Sig XCompact and P365, steel mags have no friction sliding problems.

It's pretty awesome to be able to convert the calibers on platforms and can be done reliably but personally I'm a fan of getting a dedicated caliber model. Might be cool to have a G23 around if 9mm ammo is ever sold out or inflated everywhere though.

Shawn

What do you think about 9mm conversion barrels for glock 23? Or is it just better to get a glock 19?

Michael Sampson

The G19 is another one of those guns that just gets so many things right. The larger frame pistols are usually easier to shoot accurately for most people (probably also has something to do with years of muscle memory). Personally I think the Gen 3 G19 is better made than the newer model Glocks. I like the finish better and the triggers are usually smother than the newer guns, your mileage my vary. I think it also depends on how the gun fits your hands/how deep you need to conceal. Also, how well you shoot each model. If you hit better with either. I'd venture to say the G19 would be easier to shoot accurately than the G43x. Not that the 43x isn't capable, it's probably easier for most to manage the recoil with a G19 in comparison. With the same round count, it's an interesting question. Also if you were going to go OWB like a duty holster maybe the G17 would be better with more rounds and longer sight radius?

Shawn

So followup question... Do you see an advantage to a larger frame/barrel in a handgun? Eg. Glock 19 w/ a 15 round oem magazine versus a Glock 43X w/ a 15 round shield magazine removing the concealed/open carry factor... I got contracted for a 37 night EP type situation. Property is more on the isolated and rural side so initially I was open carrying a G19 w/ a duty holster all night out of habit and then switching to an IWB G43X when the suns up and escorting into the city. Am I overthinking it? It's a solo op, no backup. Appreciate ya brother. Can't wait for the podcast to come back!

Not recently on my end.

You mentioned in a previous conversation that you had been doing some drills shooting one handed. I appreciate you bringing some of that into this video. Solid shit once again Brother! Keep up the good work!

Interesting to hear your thoughts on the Springfield Hellcat....
