Armor Check

I've seen multiple ads for soft armor recently for multiple brands. While they preform stopping certain pistol rounds I feel as though it is important to ask a few questions before purchasing. Question 1: What is the threat? Question 2: Are there rounds the armor will not stop?
The marketing strategies for many of these products, especially armor, only state the positives of which rounds it will stop but do not state that there are some rounds that it will not stop. This may lead a new consumer to believe they are protected from higher threat levels because they have a bulletproof vest. It is important when purchasing armor to do your research and know the capabilities of the different protection levels.
The elephant in the room with armor: Is it made to stop the rounds shot from the most common firearms in your environment? In this video 5.56 from an AR15 variant. Followup question in this example: If it is made to address handgun only threats, will the product be deployed for defense in a handgun only threat environment?
This video is to show the limits of soft pistol rated armor, not to single out any individual manufacturer, most of them sell a soft pistol armor product in their lineups. I'd like to note that the sample in this video preformed well to the standard it was made to.

Plus shooting them at an angle, which is most likely to be the case IF the situation will indeed unravel.

2021-05-24 14:40:49 +0000 UTCThis is going to sound ignorant maybe because I am when it comes to armor but based off what I just saw I’d almost rather get hit with the 223 at that range without the armor than with because it looks as though once it entered/exited the second plate the round was tumbling kinda goes back to your policy with green tip it goes right through rather than have a tumbling round half mangled going in

2020-04-11 00:48:59 +0000 UTCNice vid.. can the average person still function wearing a vest that say stopped a 5.56? I would assume the force alone from that round would still put you down and have you not feeling too well?

2020-04-10 20:27:05 +0000 UTCI didn’t watch the video before I made this comment. It would be more appropriate for the actual body armor video. I have been trying to find some seat back covers with molle so I can reach into pouches on the passenger side while I’m driving. Someone should make armored seat covers with a place to keep my sunglasses.

2020-04-10 20:08:53 +0000 UTCMuch respect to those of you that really need these products. I just want to look cool and spend as much money possible doing it. What’s the psychological effect of wearing body armor? Do you feel more confident when maybe you shouldn’t?
