Yea great video brotha, myself? did my bit with the corp back in the 90's so im down with the safety, alot of guys i know and have seen, (who i wont train with lol) are all about the cqb but one thing i do know is that just to get to a kill house theres an unreal amount of training over and over again, my cuz was a PJ for 8 yrs in Afganistan then with BW thats my exp with kill house lol my Corps wasnt big on cqb then so if need be im def rollin in hot with safety on, new to patreon been huge fan of VE for a long time but this video is why im here great knowledge that is also responsible and laid back, not a shit ton of high speed crap, hope everyone is good and safe, thanks shawn....

Thank God. That's too close for comfort! Target identification is extremely important and often overlooked in most training I've seen.

Shawn

100% agree and have experienced the mental checklist. I lived with 3 roommates and they all had gone home on leave. about 2am some noises woke me up. Grabbing my handgun, safe on always, i cleared the house until i got to the only closed door at the master bedroom. I swing the door open, saw a silhouette, then the checklist began,,,drop to knee as gun comes up, safety off as finger enters trigger guard...by the time the safety's clicking my brain recognized it was Earl's coatrack i was about to blow a 45 through LOL. Safety use? Yes for me!

Damian

If we go back to the fundamentals of finger off the trigger until you punch out and are on target and continue to go through this metal checklist; it seems to me, figure off the trigger until you know what is the threat will go a long way as reducing mistakes and errors...

James Meehan

Absolutely. Responsible for every round that leaves your barrel.

Shawn

Me too. Patreon is becoming my favorite very quickly. You guys are constructive and positive and it makes me want to create more content every day. Gotta love those keyboard commandos!

Shawn

Absolutely. It's easy for people to forget when doing speed shooting the weight that comes with each trigger pull that connects.

Shawn

The regret from a bad decision in this subject would definitely stay with you.

Shawn

Seems to me, that unless you are actively engaging a known treat where you can operate more on "autopilot" to eliminate the threat; you should always and constantly go through each relevant metal checklist constantly all of the time.

James Meehan

Man I enjoy the hell out of this platform and growing community. If this was Instagram or YouTube there would be a gaggle of jerkoffs saying "Well this is my safety... ☝️☝️☝️" Great things you've made here bro!

David Munari

"Once that bullet leaves the barrel there's no bringing it back." Words to live by, and words to cycle through your mind as you train. Even on paper targets, run those scenarios through your mind as you dispatch. Thanks Shawn, your content is always 100%. I wish I had a chance to spend sometime training with you, and listening to your experiences. Keep it up brother, we are all listening.

James Reid Beagle

I've run into quite a few people who think they're faster by leaving the safety off. Sheer stupidity. It's about making a good decision and being accurate once the decision's been made. Once again, great video!

Nancy Thompson

I think almost all the time should be on safe. I constantly see people online super focused on being the fastest to burn down the stationary target array but real life has no do overs and real consequences. Also, real time processing hostile vs not hostile targets isn't as easy as it is in a training environment. Thanks for watching 🍻.

Shawn

I’d say 90% of civilians leave it on safe. If you train like you should flipping the safety takes no time at all. Hell most military should leave it on safe too. One more check might like you said stop you from shooting a no shoot and living with that for the rest of your life. Great video bro.
