He just simply has an issue with what Drake has done to the industry (i.e colonizing different sounds of rap). Kendrick also “seems” to be self-aware and acknowledges his flaws and hypocrisy in his music. DAMN is literally about duality. FD also pointed out Kendrick’s hypocrisy in the video. It’s the fans that like to act like Kendrick is the second coming of Jesus lol

They meant it as a compliment like I look like I like conscious rap ( I do) but please he’s not saying anything serious or radical like Noname, tribe called quest , yassin bey. I’m a real conscious rap listener and it’s easy to know that he’s not because you know what the artists I listed really stand for and stand on. Personally Im not a fan of artists that don’t stand for something, I feel like their body of work is informed by their politics and you can really feel it.
