It helps that it’s not the same anymore and I’m just not the person I used to be when I was on Twitter. Also helps that I have a community that I’ve been working on for two years. I don’t miss the app I miss the connections and the fun. But it seems like all of social media isn’t fun just steeped in negativity

I feel like TikTok had a big hand in everyone telling the same jokes, having to like the same things, etc. I know I'ma sound so "back in my day," but for sake of example, part of what made vine so fun was that each vine was its own thing. No one took, "I almost dropped my croissant!" and repeated it to exhaustion in their own vines. Most clips were just stand-alone as they are. Part of the corniness comes from everything being so commodified (imo), but I also think with us living in so much surveillance, too much of the internet is a huge performance? It just feels so curated and not us oogling at happenstance anymore. There's also the fear of being caught minding your business in someone's video and then turned into a spectacle, but that's another discussion. All in all, so many have lost the plot fr.
