The thing with male hip hop culture is a lot of these new niggas are so quick to want to be seen as a “legend” instead of making good music so they’ll throw out any song or jump on any song to see what sticks, it’ll hit and then it’ll fall off in year, hip hop as an art is literally dying as an art form, now all niggas cares about is getting a hit and making connections to secure themselves in the industry so they never have to do anything ever again, which is fine and dandy in theory but what happened to the art, like y’all know how ppl would call pop nothing but a manufactured machine, that’s what rap has become, nothing feels genuine, hardly any of them can rap on beat let alone rap at all, and they all just looks like idiots, and it’s partly these record labels fault, they not getting actual talent, they’re getting ppl that have a look to market, and then the ones that are actually talented get overlooked

The normani discourse kinda speaks to a bigger issue I have with artists these days where they announce work that’s not finished, the reason normanis roll out isn’t consistent is probably bc the albums not done, which begs the question why even announce an album in the first place if we have to wait another month for a single, on top of the fact she announced the album title and the cover with no date lolll like that’s unserious

Okay some QC info: So HYBE America is the American arm of BTS' label's parent company HYBE. Hybe America actually acquired the QC label in a $300M+ deal under that nasty man Scooter Braun last February. So Coach and P are now in a "partnership" with Scooter. Idk much of the specifics but could that have played a part in the downfall?

I got my tickets to see Megan in London which is the last show so it's going to be amazing!! Mind you I've already seen her twice, her first round of worldwide shows in 2019 straight off Fever in a small club and it was CRAZY (I was front row and we were going bar for barrrr!!!! Then she came back to London in 2022 and I saw her in a theatre of up to 4,900 capacity and she killed it!! Megan has been the queen of festivals since she popped out which at first i was like girl go on tour! but i appreciate it probably wasn't her time (and who knows, her label might have been holding her hostage) she was building her audience and practising performing so it's actually great in the long run! She is an entertainer to the core, she has great audience control which is super underrated as a performance skill

But I literally just said on a creator's video about rap girls that QC is at fault for the City Girl's standing right now. The creator said that them flopping is due to their social choices, who they align with, and their attitudes and persona. I just don't know how you can engage with them in any way and not see that QC is the reason that them and the rest of their artists are in a bad way. P obviously never had any plan for longevity for anybody on their label, even Cardi and the Migos. And now their artists are suffering for it.

I think Normani's team is unserious and this rollout is proof of that but the stans are screaming saying it makes sense so if they like it I love it. I just hope Normani's music is good because I love R&B but I hope she makes actual good R&B.

Currently suffering and insomnia spell too and I’ve an exam on Wednesday, fml. Very good points on Kate Middleton. I thought it was Gynaecological also a miscarriage too. The Danish monarchy had similar cheating rumours / weirdness last Christmas. The then Crown Prince & Princess (who’s Australian) had cheating / divorce rumours then their Queen of 50 years stepped down (health issues) & there was similar rumours she done it to save their marriage. Except for general royal gossip or Australian media, it wasn’t reported at all in English media. The Kate & William divorce story just felt like another verison of this especially as (the now) Queen Mary & Her get so compared.

I think she probably tried to cover up looking sick or something and because she was sick the PR people were like “whatever”. No one is going to argue with someone who’s going through cancer. I thought it was Gyno related or a miscarriage and Kensington Palace always said she wouldn’t be back until Easter….so the speculation seemed silly to me at the time

I wish Normani announced the album (with a release date or some sort of timeframe) then quietly made videos using the 1:59 snippet w/o telling us a date right away. now she's getting set up for a lot of backlash if the song sucks or isn't 10/10 right out the gate. we won't rlly know until the full song drops (in a damn month), but we're so close to the finish line for the album, so I still have hope!

I personally enjoyed the Kate Middleton news *because* it was so inconsequential and not-earth-shattering, before the big reveal, obviously. it's still just weird that the palace let Kate tell the lie that she edited that photo herself??? like, you already know she's unwell, why make her the butt of a joke when it's not needed??? that being said, wishing for a recovery bc she's p young and so are the kids, but we fought a whole ass war to not care *that much* about whatever the British royalty do, so whatever, I guess!!!
