The fact that these KIDS THESE CHILDREN actors thought they felt safe and comfortable working on these kids shows and years later realize the dangers they were in. And their parents DID NOTHING aside from a few moms and Drake Bell’s dad. It is disgusting what Disney and Nick did nothing to protect these kids. With all that being said, what is the public supposed to do about it???? Things like this will keep happening as long as Nickelodeon and Disney are in business. How can we stop this so no child goes through this ever again?

I don't think it's justified just bc she said this came from rejection. And i think the "she's trying to BE white/have a white aesthetic" re her skin tone and wigs is also dumb. Seeing the US flag (or at least part of it) is garish in climate we're in so i understand aversion to that. Do i think there's more aversion because it's beyonce and people like to overcriticse her a bit? yes I do. But I understand the baseline aversion. I had such a difficult time listening to Jeannette's memoir because to think she was dealing with all this stuff at the time when she was one of my means of happy entertainment. the juxtaposition really messed me up when she mentioned big pop culture moments (Katy Perry hit singles, popular episodes etc.) .... wish people would realize that these are real people not just characters :(

2024-03-22 11:34:23 +0000 UTCAgree 100% with your take on most people watching Quiet on Set… since it came out, I can’t go online for two minutes without seeing incredibly weird tweets, TikToks, etc. fixating on and rehashing the details of the abuse discussed in the documentary, posting extremely inappropriate clips of minors (when the shows were being filmed), and salivating for other former child actors from Nickelodeon to “come out with their story” with no regard to the possible victims’ well-being or retraumatization… these people don’t actually feel any true empathy, they are deeply devoid of it and just enjoy hearing the gruesome details of other people’s trauma for entertainment and spectacle. That’s why they can’t even watch and reflect on the documentary alone—they have to run to social media to create and interact with content about it.
