The fact the she’s had sustained success despite her lack of conventional and traditional talent, paired with the lack of ability to legitimately compare others to her or “recreate” her success showcases why she’s amazing. She always gave the vibe that she did want she wanted to do and was content with that. I look at her as a concept more than an artist and she’s a fun performer. It feels good to see someone appear to do what they want when they want and I think that’s why we’re drawn to her

2024-03-07 14:26:05 +0000 UTCthe “dua lipa got so much better” girls be taking me out bc it just highlights how ppl love putting white women on a pedestal for doing the bare minimum, 95% of dua’s stage presence is camera work, cute outfits and having a gang of backup dancers, I call it the kpop effect bc a lot of kpop artists’ performances are masked by a bunch of camera work to give the illusion the performance is better than it is, then you see fancams of the live performance and they performing like ass, now granted dua doesn’t perform like ass, she performs with whatever’s comfortable for her and the best of her ability, I don’t expect every pop girl to do a boom cat, for some that’s just not their wheelhouse, and that’s fine that she does that but twitter stans toting dua as if she made this grand transformation in stage presence is unserious bc she’s still giving nothing relatively speaking

I like the song and I think it's catchy but the drums are like proto-B'day specifically taking from a Green light or Deja Vu whereas the chords and vocal (which are not great) are pulling from a DIL with this arabian sample and the things rihanna tries to do with her voice, Really interesting to see how her 'ear' developed over time and how that coincided with the influences around her.

I literally have enjoyed Summer Walker performances. It don't take much with me if i like your music 😂. I think being an early days Swiftie has conditioned me to be like this, cuz way back when, her performances were questionable to say the least. And I stood by her!
