Dev Diary - Painting with Light

I was scouring through the archives, looking for new material to use for my daily Dev of the Week post.

Then I saw a couple of shots that gave a great opportunity to talk about colour and mood, so here we are, another Dev Diary! Lets get to it.

You 'll recognize this from the previous release. It's a gloomy affair, trying to comes to terms with the new living conditions, while still trying to move on with life.

Here we have Diane keep silent while making her way to the Police station. There's no dialogue, and we can hardly see her expression.

Yet, there is no doubt in the sombre mood in this moment. Contrast that with this moment here -

The warmth of this shot comes through clearly to us, and it's not just the expression either. Despite being surrounded by broken furniture and clutter, she's clearly in a much better place here mentally.

Going back through the scenes though, I wished I'd been more consistent with the colour palette. Some scenes are showing too much warmth when it definitely should have been colder. And some could definitely do with a splash of colour especially for scenes with Liane, for that extra playfulness.
