I know myself. I'm going down that dirt road and seeing where the chips fall with the redhead. In the worst-case scenario, I still have Wilson. It's funny that Mary thought he fell in love with Wilson. But who knows, she might be right; we never did see the back of Wilson. Four years is a long time to be alone. During pre-production, Hanks gained 50 pounds (23 kg) to make his transformation more dramatic. After most of the film was shot, production was paused so he could lose the weight and grow his hair and beard to look like he had been living on the island for years. You usually can't go wrong with a Tom Hanks movie. If you haven't seen "Catch Me If You Can," that's a good one, and so was Philadelphia.

He held onto the watch with Kelly's picture. It was his prized possession, his hope, his motivation, what kept him going. The FedEx package was the last remaining package, so he held onto it sort of like a goal. If I ever make it back, I will deliver it. The package was from the lady welder (Mrs. Peterson) at the start of the movie. It had her logo on the package. A set of gold wings. Not really sure of her story but the first package the FedEx guy got from her, with the pink wings on it, they showed being delivered to her husband (Mr. Peterson) in Russia. He answered the door with another woman in lingerie. "It's from my wife.", he said. Maybe the package that Chuck had was the one she said she would have for the FedEx guy on Thursday. After he was saved and realized his life with Kelly was over, he returned the watch that was a family heirloom. Then he went to deliver the package to its destination. The arch at the end of the driveway had that same logo as on the package. A set of wings. Nobody was there so he left it with the note... "This package saved my life. Thank You". When he returned to the 4-way intersection and was standing there by his car looking at a map (trying to decide which direction his life would go from there) the woman in the pickup truck stopped and gave him info. When she drove off, they showed the tailgate of her truck, and it had that logo painted on it. A set of gold wings. Was this destiny? He has to decide whether to head in any of the three directions that lead to the unknown or does he follow the lady to what might be destiny. When you think about it, he had Kelly to help him through his ordeal. He also had that package the entire time as well. Was it destiny or fate that made him keep that package that eventually brought him to that intersection in his life? Returning the watch closed one door. Returning the package opened another.
