1 thing to clarify, Danny isn't immortal. The iron fist power is, different people carry it at different times. Also Sigourney Weaver and the other members of the Hand can die, but the had a formula to resurrect themselves. They used the last of it to bring Elektra back though.

There was a scene I think you overlooked where Karen was talking to him and she saw the picture of the dude she saw pulled out of the water and the colonel saw the look on her face when she saw his picture on his wall and knew she'd put together that he was the blacksmith. That's why he kidnapped her before the punisher put an end to him.
