(1962), and there are so many great Classic Black and White Horror movies like Frankenstein (1931), Dracula (1931), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931), Bride of Frankenstein (1935), The Invisible Man (1933), King Kong (1933), The Wolf Man (1941), Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954). and I'm not even going to name all the great Christmas movies.

Check out Captains Courageous and How Green was my Valley even if you don't react to it on camera but just to let me know what you thought of them. 😇

Thanks for your reaction to this great movie. It gets better every time I see it. Another great black and white film is “On the Waterfront” with Marlon Brando and Eva Marie Saint.

Tom Hartley

Such a good movie. One important aspect is that this film was made at the time it was set. A lot of the extras are actual refugees and because America hadn’t entered the war yet Rick is embodying the neutral country that needs to make a decision. The scene where he’s saying, “I bet they’re asleep in New York, I they’re asleep all over America,” Is pointed at the audience who don’t want to see what’s going on in the rest of the world. Not a black and white film but the same director made The Adventures of Robin Hood in 1938 and it’s the best. My favourite classic black and white movie is Bringing Up Baby, also 1938, a romcom about a pet leopard.

Great reaction Mary. This one of my favorite films. Complicated characters and relationships. Witty dialog and subtle humor. Cheers ❤️

Classic Movie and reaction. The black and white movies I'd like to suggest are: To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) Key Largo (1948)

I agree with you that Ilsa going with Victor is the better ending. In many movies, Victor’s character would be made to be more unlikable or even killed off so that the main character would get the girl. I think Rick and Ilsa ending up together would take away Rick’s big sacrifice and the movie loses something If you haven’t seen When Harry Met Sally (1989), there is a reference to Casablanca. For Black and White movies: 12 Angry Men (1957), Young Frankenstein (1974)

For black and white films, I highly recommend The Anatomy of a Murder with James Stewart. It is an awesome court drama. I also highly recommend The Hustler (1961) starring Paul Newman, but if you do the Hustler you got to do the sequel to it as the next film you watch because Everything from the first film influences Paul Newman’s character’s decision in the second film. The 2nd film is also done 25 years later in 1986 in color which was directed by Martin Scorese and Paul’s co-star in the sequel was a young Tom Cruise. It sequel is called The Color of Money.
