When the Mom was asking if she said her prayers, she was talking about God. She only did the deal to keep her daughter alive. So praying to God is one thing she can do and give to her daughter to help protect her. That’s the reason why the Mom shoots the doll at the end is to release the daughter from that deal.

That is why she is breaking down again it’s twenty years of emotions ahead has not had coming back into her at once.

2024-10-26 04:53:39 +0000 UTCI've already seen this movie 3 times, but I'm so glad to have an excuse to watch it again and see someone else's reaction. This was a top 3 for me this year with The Substance and Alien Romulus. Edit: I think an issue is that if someone tells you this movie is wicked scary then you are definitely in for disappointment. The movie is really just a vibe along with Nic Cage's performance. This could essentially be the best episode of X-Files ever between the story, setting, and how everything unwinds. It's really just an unsettling experience. Also, when she unravels at the end and is no longer stoic, I believe that can be chalked up to her doll being destroyed, so she is now free from any control. It's the reason that when they found the Camera girl's doll in the barn and cut open the metal sphere from its head, she suddenly stopped being catatonic in the mental institution.
