Its not about if Jace wants to be king or not. If words come out, that rhaenyra was unfaithful, she will automatically be brandmarked as that and have an insane lower claim to the thrown and all of her kids too, even the ones with daemon. So jace is forced to keep the secret, not for his sake, but for the sake of all his brothers aswell.
