loved your reaction - subbed to your patreon just to watch this! glad to see its back up on youtube
This is a great film and it was such an experience seeing it in theaters - as you mentioned, the sound is so immersive and the score is incredible. my favorite point in the movie is when the ships launch towards godzilla and they play the original theme (there is some fun fact about the godzilla theme being the oldest theme of any movie)
it looks like you watched this on Netflix with the "english CC" on, i'd recommend a rewatch with the regular "english" subtitles.
They make a few key line changes in the movie that I think change it up a bit - notably:
Tachibana did NOT build an ejection seat for koichi, it was already there, his decision was to tell him if it was present or not which he made when he realized koichi really was willing to die.
I also felt in your reaction that you feel that koichi was still going to back out of the plan much later in the film than most - I feel the movie more so focuses on his struggle not to kill himself vs if he's going to back out or not - which definitely changes the tone a bit
overall, so glad you watched this, love this film, amazing what they can do for 10 million dollars.

Hey, Thanks for the great reaction. I had to watch your uncut version in case it went the way of your edited YouTube version. Godzilla Minus One hit all the buttons that so many big blockbusters miss. One of the most important being to make you care for the characters. Koichi's journey from shame and guilt to redemption and being able to accept and feel worthy of his new life with Noriko & Akiko was truly moving. This Godzilla was one of the best versions of this particular monster.
