I live in L.A. and remember Hollywood Video. Yeah it was smash hit when it came out.

2024-02-23 03:05:59 +0000 UTCI was. all set to comment and Mary said what I was going to type. Very unique mixed genre film. Romance..Comedy. A bit of horror. Certainly drama. And a bittersweet ending. And yes Demi is terrific in it as well as Swayze, who. iroically did die in 2009 way too young. And of course Whoopi who showed her comedic chops after her dark role in The Color Purple where she was nominatd for Best Actress.

I used to work for Hollywood Video at the time this movie got released and had a manager at the time who would literally play this film every single day. It got to the point where I could recite the entire dialogue. LOL The Righteous Brothers have two songs that most people associate to films: “Unchained Melody” from this and “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” from “Top Gun”. Side note: my favorite song of theirs is “Ebb Tide”. The screenwriter of this also wrote a movie a decade before called “Brainstorm”. It’s a good movie and is mostly known for being Natalie Wood’s last movie.
