Alexander's name is really Boris, he was on the run and had a gunshot and two passports and he assumed the identity of Clausen's brother. Hannah was blackmailing him because Boris Niewald' was his real name. He was also sweating over an 'unsolved murder' in the paper last episode. Implication is that Boris killed Clausen's brother and assumed his identity, taking Regina's name to further hide it, and Clausen has been led there to discover it.
