The scene in the graveyard when their wands connect is brilliant, it's explained far better in the books, but basically in the first film when Harry gets his wand Olivander (the wand maker) mentions that the "Phoenix who tail feather resides in your wand gave another feather, just one other, it is curious that you should be destined for this wand, when it's brother, gave you that scar" Harry and Voldemort a wand share a core (phoenix feather) and so when they fight they don't work properly hense the Priori Incantatum in the graveyard, which causes one wand to reveal echos of spells it has done in reverse order. So 4 killing curses in reverse Cedric, the old man, and then Lily and James Potter from 13 years prior. Hope that helps clear that bit up!
