2021-03-13 22:41:36 +0000 UTCWerner’s last phone call to his wife was similar to Walt’s phone call to Skylar in “Ozymandiaz”. Also very fitting how Werner was pivotal for the creation of the superlab, while Heisenberg (Walt). was the one that destroyed destroyed it. (Werner Heisenberg) Yet another beautiful full circle moment.

2021-02-21 17:32:09 +0000 UTCThat moment when Mike goes for the gum instead of the gun really sums up his character in this series. He's always attempted to use his cleverness to hold onto his morality while getting further into the criminal world. Taking lower paid bodyguard jobs instead of the loan shark jobs, keeping Tuco alive, hitting Hector financially with his trucks. It goes back to his conversation with Pryce in the first season where he told him that it was up to the individual whether or not they became a good criminal or a bad criminal. Mike was always deluding himself, because you can't keep going deeper down this path and keep your hands clean. I also think this moment really informs his relationship with Jesse. When we found out about Mike's son in season 1 a lot of people said that he must have seen his son in Jesse, but that never sat well with me. Mike sees his son as morally perfect, he would've never seen his son in a junkie drug dealer who has murdered people. But I think he sees a bit of himself in Jesse. They've both murdered someone who they think is an innocent person for reasons that they don't truly believe in. The Jimmy stuff is really interesting as well. Jimmy talks a good game about not caring about his brother, and I think on a conscious level he has moved on. But if you look at the scam for Huell they they did a couple of episodes ago and his idea of saving a judge that he concocts in this episode they both involve people being saved from a burning building. Chuck's death and his part in it still lingers over him and probably always will even if he won't admit it to himself. And I love Kim's plan in this episode because it's not only about making Jimmy look sincere to the board but also about making Jimmy go through the motions of grief that he's been avoiding for the past year. She asks him how it feels to be at his brother's grave. She lets him read Chuck's letter but tells him he has to read from his heart. She's hoping that by going through the motions he'll finally have the breakthrough that she's been waiting for. But Jimmy's put up too much of a wall between him and his feelings for Chuck so it's just too late for that. It's such a quietly devastating moment to end the season on. Easily in my top 5 favorite episodes of the series. It's extraordinary that they were able to make these moments hit so hard (Jimmy becoming Saul and Mike murdering for Gus) because we've known that these things were going to happen since episode one of the series. Excited for you to see the next season!

2021-02-21 03:58:36 +0000 UTCHis conversation with that girl was so deep and so many double meanings. "you don't matter all that much to them", Chuck's last words to Jimmy. "they're never letting you in" Chuck not letting Jimmy work at HHM. "your mistake is who you are", basically how Chuck sees Jimmy with his Chicago sunroof. "the winner takes it all" call back to the song they sung together in the opening. Such incredible dialogue.

2021-02-21 01:10:50 +0000 UTCEverything Mike did this season ties into his speech later on with Walter about half measures and full measures. He was basically half measuring Werner until he realized Werner had to go. The scene was hauntingly beautiful. Also, the namesake for the Heisenberg monicker is Werner Heisenberg.
