Also the lady she was talking to was the priestess of Colonial One, who swore her in as president in the mini-series, and has done all the funerals and such so far.

The story goes that 13 tribes set out on spaceships or 'caravans of the gods' from Kobol like 2000 years ago (tho Pythea was written 3500 years ago) - 12 of them formed the 12 colonies and established a civilization, and a supposed 13th tribe set out to some mythical place called Earth. 12 colonies are: Aerilon Aquaria Canceron Caprica Gemenon Leonis Libran Picon Sagittaron Scorpia Tauron Virgon

Remember that Pres Laura has seen serpents on her podium and has a wasting disease which mirrors the prophecies in Pythea, she also saw Leoben in a vision going out the airlock, Leoben who we should add, also quoted Pythia to Starbuck during interrogation (Pythea being the scrolls that had the prophecy and is about 'the circle of time' and the prophecy of humanities exodus) who also said that humanity will find the 'home of the gods' and supposed birthplace of humanity 'Kobol', which Six said to Gaius this ep '"Though the outcome favored the few, it led to a confrontation at the home of the gods." I wouldn't discount the possibility of some supernatural element given the weird synergy of all this stuff :)
