This Week At Minifantasy... (December 1st - 6th)

Minifantasy - Outfits (Patreon Exclusive)

I'm very happy to announce that Minifantasy - Outfits is already available to download for Orc tier and above Patrons!

Minifantasy - Outfits is a pack that includes three fully animated, and layered, outfits compatible with all the humanoids included in Minifantasy - Creatures. Each outfit has 4 pieces of equipment: helmet, armour, gloves and boots. Every piece of equipment is a separate animated layer that you can combine with Minifantasy - Creatures humanoids to include equipable items in your game or to create new characters.

A picture is worth a thousand words:

Minifantasy - Outfits will be a growing Patreon exclusive pack. The idea is to add little by little new outfits and cosmetic helmets. However, making this content requires a lot of time so the updates will be spaced on time, probably a fully new outfit every couple of months.

I hope you guys like it!

Minifantasy - Silent Swamp WIP

I already started working on the new asset pack. During this week I have been making tests with the colour palette and the basic elements. I'm looking for a colourful funky palette with nice contrast for this pack. However, I think I will also include an alternative tileset with a more conservative colour selection. I don't have anything yet that worth to show you guys.

I promise you the first sneak peek on tileset during the following couple of days!

Getting close to first Patreon goal

Our little community still growing and we are getting close to our first Patreon goal :D We may be a few weeks away yet, but at this pace, I'm pretty sure that we will be there sooner rather than later.

Once we reach the goal, I plan to make a new free Minifantasy asset pack similar to Minifantasy - Dungeon. I think that free asset packs work great as Collection introduction. People can see and test first hand what Minifantasy has to offer. Eventually, they may end purchasing other packs or even joining us here in Patreon too. I think it can be a great way to increase the Collection visibility in Itch.

If you wish, I would like you to get involved in the creation of this asset pack. As developers, I would like to know your opinion about what makes a great Minifantasy introduction asset pack. Also, you can make any suggestion you want about the theme and the content you would like to see included in the pack.

If you have any idea, you can share your thoughts here, in Discord or via private message.

This is it for this week :) Talk to you next week here again (or anytime in Discord!)

Comments

Hi Andre, The short answer is that I'm not planning to adapt the outfits to other animations or make new outfits. This is a commonly asked question. So I will repost a longer answer about it I shared recently: "There are some outfits for the humanoid characters (human, elf, orc, goblin, halfling and dwarf) available in Patreon. But they are only covering the base animations: idle, walk, attack, dmg and die, and also the spell animations for the wizard outfits. The outfit system is very difficult to handle in an ever-growing open-ended collection like Minifantasy. The reason is that I often introduce new animations for the 6 humanoid characters in new asset packs (for example, the crafting and professions asset pack include a lot of animations to use the workbenches, the fishing animation, bug catching animation, etc.) To maintain a collection of updated and usable outfits I would need to make new animations for every piece of the already existing outfits to match the newly added animations. It will just add more and more work if I decide to add a new outfit, as there are more and more animations being added. As I would need to retrospectively update every outfit, it will lead to a point where I spend more time maintaining outfits than making new real content. That's why I decided to stop adding "official" outfits for the playable characters. For the NPCs it was a different situation because those characters animations are limited and they will not receive new animations, So I don't need to worry about retrospective updates. Other devs in the community using Minifantasy assets approached this problem making the outfits needed in their games using the outfits you can find on Patreon and in the myriad of NPC's pack as a template." I'm sorry for the inconvenience it may cause you. If you have more questions feel free to ask me :)

Do you have plans to make the Outfits compatible with Minifantasy - Weapons?

André
