It was clear to me that he would die at the end the moment he said that he finally cared about life... because earlier Stansfield said that he didn't take pleasure in killing anyone who didn't care about life. When this was first released in the United States, it was shorter and they had cut out all the parts about Mathilda talking about loving him. It was released in the United States with the title "The Professional."
